Bike starting problems

My bike is a turbo 99 R1. I had my tranny rebuilt and since then it won't start. It has nothing to do with my turbo set up because it worked before I rebuilt my tranny. It has fuel and spark I even changed the plugs for shits and giggles and it still only cranks. Every once in awhile I get a big pop but thats it. I tried starting fluid even though I hate using it and it didn't even have an effect. I'm now wondering if they had to do anything with my timing/ timing chain when splitting the crank. Help me please!!!!!

My plugs were wet and smelled of fuel so I thought it was flooded. I pulled the plugs and let it sit while I was at work. When I got home fom work, I put new plugs in. That was yesterday before I posted this thread. :( I know it has spark because I pulled Cyl. #4s plugs and cranked it and I had sparked.

It may well have a spark...but if it is not sparking at the correct time then it will never start...check timing

When i say check the timing i mean did you line up the T mark on the rotor with the crankcase mating surface when you installed the camshafts...Exhaust cam with #1 lobes facing forward and the punch mark facing up...Inlet cam with #1 lobes facing the rear and the punch mark facing up......sorry for the confusion

I took my motor in to a shop to rebuild my tranny. Does the timing chain need to be removed when splitting the case to reomove the gears?

Yes the whole motor has to be split to get to tranny...but if shop done it then it should be ok...the only way to check is to take the rocker cover off and turn the engine over until the timing mark lines up and then make sure the cam lobes are facing the right way and the punch marks are facing up..but like i said if the shop did it it should be ok....check all wiring connectors and fuel supply...good luck and keep us posted on progress

lol they wouldn't touch my bike with the turbo on so i had to strip it and bring it in. My bike worked before I pulled it off and now it doesn't :( I'm gunna check timing either tonight or tommorrow

You say it worked before, then you took it out and the shop done the work then you put it back and it doesnt start...I cant see as the shop would have put it back wrong so recheck everything that you have done to put the engine back in....fuel lines and wiring etc. good luck again and hope its something silly

The shop removed to motor I just brought in the rolling chassis with motor attached. I already had to fix some mistakes they made as I already checked their work. My last thought was timing so I'll post my findings.

sorry I never gave the conclusion. The shop had removed my timing chain when they rebuilt my tranny. They fixed it ( was off 3 teeth!) then tried to charge me $300 saying they didn't touch my chain. I had to show them a picture for proof they removed my chain.

thats the only dealership within a 2 hour drive. My dad's a manager in the parts dept and my uncle does all their internet tech stuff soon to be a service writer If it wasn't for their help I'd be out $300. sad that they treat family like that I feel bad for the average customer cuz I know they get it worse. I only have them do stuff now that I can't do like changing/ balancing tires and rebuilding my forks I won't let them touch anything else!
