Hey guys, i have a bit of a strange problem and i wonder if anyone has any ideas. Sometimes when i start my 2k r1 and pull the clutch in and put it in gear the ignition cuts out. It's done this to me several times now and it usually just fixes itself and starts working after a while. It can take 20mins before it decides to magically fix itself, sometimes it will do it once or twice then be fine, some days it doesn't do it at all. The bike will fire up 100% fine in neutral but as soon as i drop it into gear *clonk* ignition dies. My initial though was the side stand switch must be sticking or a lose wire....but having cut the sidestand switch out of the circuit altogether it still seems to be a problem. I've been through and clean all the connectors etc and check the loom for rubbing etc. Now as i understand it the clutch switch should only cut the starter motor? To stop the bike being started in gear with the clutch out. But i had an odd thing happen the other week where the ignition seemed to be cutting out everytime i pulled the clutch in as i was riding along, i didn't really notice it till i had to come to a stop since i change clutchless 95% of the time anyway. Again it magically sorted itself after pulling over to the side and trying to get going again a few times. I did a little experiment when it wouldn't play ball with me this morning and dropped it into gear without pulling the clutch in while the back wheel was off the floor on a paddock stand and it carried on running, but i can't be sure since when i stopped the engine and started and put it in gear with the clutch in it had magically fixed itself again. The clutch switch itself operates fine, i can't see any obvious shorts anywhere in the loom and it's getting really frustrating. Any thoughts?

Maybe your starter cut-off relay is on its way out It is mounted behind the batte below the riders seat. Good luck

There is a relay under the seat. The side stand, neutral, and clutch switch all go through it. It's not terrible expensive. Find a buddy with the same bike, swap it, if it works buy it.
