JDollaz 04-25-2007, 11:10 AM OK Since I've been bashed for being a B*LL Sh!T Artist,
and not posting anything serious, i decided to take some time out of work and write this.
Yesturday I Took my Bike for its 600 Mile Service. I needed it done Sunday but the shop was closed , so i wound up putting an extra 100 miles on it.
i took it in with 712 Miles. Let Me tell you, My bike feels amazing.
Last night i went out riding and the new oil really gave it some extra
UUmmph ! Ripping through the gears was amazing and any rpm over
10K is Rediculous. I Couldn't have imagined the Bike Riding better than when i first got it, but i was wrong! ( i think the Chain adjustment was a Key improvement as well)
I am Dieying to Post pics of all the little B.S. I Put on My bike, Nothing drastic was done, just minor visual mods. to make the bike less similair to other
( Stock Blue) R1's on the rode. I Love this Bike.
Has anybody else felt a Dramatic difference in performance ( Pos/Maybe Neg.) after getting thier 600 mile service done????????? :riding
Wheat 04-25-2007, 11:13 AM The bike will get stronger as it loosens up. So yes you should feel a Difference. :)
JDollaz 04-25-2007, 11:22 AM Thanx, I Really am so attacthed to this thing!
They did a Good job, When i Get my Sprocket(-1) ,
exaust and power commander. They told me about a place
to take my Bike and Some Asian guy, Joe Hong Can Add 15 HP
Just from Proper tuning of the Bike on a Dyno, ($300 just for him)
Not including the Horses that the commander and
exaust will add.
Then they wanted me to get Port and Polished, and add a BMC ( i think)
Air filter ??? any suggestions?

JDollaz 04-25-2007, 01:53 PM Hey J Dollaz!! Glad To Hear Your So Happy!!! So What Kind Of Oil Did They Use For Your Service??? Yamalube? Full Synthetic??
I Asked for Full Synthetic, But Who Know's
what they put in after i left. Next time I'm doing the Oil Change Myself.
How many Miles should i be changing the Oil ????
I've been told all types of different amounts.
I've changed on my previous bikes every 1500-2000 miles ??????
MuffDVR 04-25-2007, 08:49 PM I change my oil every 3000 kms and at the start of every season. Just personal preference.

Soulrider R1 04-26-2007, 05:10 AM Next time save your money, and do it yourself. Just keep the receipts.
My dealer knew me well, and actually encouraged me to do the service.
Glad your enjoying the beast.

I Will, i Just thought that the 1st service was more than an oil change,
so i left it to the Pro's....
And +1 , this Bike is definetly the Best !!!
d207gp 05-02-2007, 12:03 AM I Asked for Full Synthetic, But Who Know's

Do NOT use synthetic oil until after break in! The viscosity is too thin for proper ring/cylinder sealing.

My Bike is Broken in.
And it has Synthetic Oil in it!
I Used the method Mentioned on this forum , to ride it hard
and dont be a PUSS like the manmula say's
I'd have to say i did a pretty good job!!!
broc944 05-02-2007, 04:43 PM Your fuel light is on.:sing:
JDollaz 05-03-2007, 06:38 AM Your fuel light is on.:sing:
I Know !!!!!
Thats One thing that Bugs me about the Bike,
i Would way rather have a Gas Meter. then to have the Light come on when its empty.. I Think HONda is the only One Like that!!!!
Does Anybody Know of an Aftermarket LED displayed fuel gage????
Sort of like the gear indicator?????
lexuspartsdude 05-03-2007, 10:28 AM You dont need to spend money on that, just reset your Trip A or B every time you get gas and remember how many miles you get to a tank. I mean sure you have to use a little math IE i get 130 miles before the light comes on and i have ridden 60, so gee uhhh..... there ya go!

+1 Yeahya!!! I Love this Bike
i have 1100 miles on mine and it feels like a dramatic difference.
My Stock exausts sound Louder and meaner and i like it because i never
heard broken in exausts before. Usually all i have seen aftermarkets put
on immediatly. i have to say i am really impressed with the way this thing sounds Stock...
And your Nutz!! 42 miles and you put NOS... CRAZY!!!
And on a Dyno!~!!:bow
I Broke mine in Hard on the streets like in that one thread about
Break-in said!!!:thumbup

Hey!......You casually mentioned a "Pro Racer Switch"......At the risk of being laughed at......Is there sereously a switch as you speak of?.......I read somewhere that the stock settings can be altered but didn't know how. Please let me know.
I am dissatisfied with my R1 because of seemingly lack of power. If a switch will fix it I am excited!....

It's located behind the chism valve. You need to remove the tank to access it.
R1LOVER 05-11-2007, 02:33 PM And you guy's gave me shit for doing this... :lol :lol
Pro racer mode can only be turned on by experienced riders with at least 5 years or more on an R1.......... anything less and you are asking for death.

William YZF-R1 05-11-2007, 03:12 PM Before '04 all R1's came from the factory with ProRacer mode enabled and there was no switch to disable it. :scared :rock
jmchenry 05-11-2007, 05:38 PM during second service, pro race mode was enabled, was good, during 4th service he enabled extreme mode... now that is what you wanna have done.... only cost me $3k :)
uswtnme 05-12-2007, 01:32 AM This sounds like :bs .
"Pro racer mode" :bs
crazygumby 05-12-2007, 02:44 PM back to topic. me and 2 of my friends all bought the 07s together they are already hitting the 600 miles mark but i havn't. so heres the questions i have: what consist of the 600 mile service?
can i do it my self?
if i do it myself does it void the yamaha warrenty?
whats the going rate for it?
thanks
ussoldierforhir 05-12-2007, 08:34 PM i just changed my oil/filter today for my 600mi. A retard could do it. Don't pay someone $80 to do 15mins of work.
jmchenry 05-12-2007, 09:11 PM they change oil/filter, supposedly go over bike as in inspection type work... not sure what else... its in the manual.. and mine cost me $125, and they swore they had to have the bike all day, i waited for it like an a$$hole... and they had it back to me in an hour.... still way over the time limit... but just my $.02
oh and i swear they put my oil cap on with locktight or something.. cause i made some major scratches trying to get it off, when it shouldn't be near that tight!
Mark_Z28 05-18-2007, 01:15 AM All the do is change the oil, adjust the chain, and lube everything thats supposed to be lubed, then check to make sure everything works. Don't know how many actually do much more than change the oil and do the chain though.

hooligan998 05-20-2007, 11:23 PM Glad I did a search on the 600 mile service. I was going to let the dealer do it this time, but I think I'll just do what I normally do, and do it myself. The only reason I considered letting the dealer do it is that I thought there may be some type of "remapping" involved. My friend's son bought an '05 CBR600RR and after his first 600 mile check up, the Honda tech informed him that they did a "remap" (maybe a reset of rev limiter?) on his bike. Apparently Honda is serious about their break in periods and limit the rpm's. Sounded like BS to me at first, but that's what he keeps telling me. So it got me to thinking as well. But, now that I know, it's business as usual for me. I don't like trusting others to do my bike work. I've always done my own, and that's what I'm gonna keep on doing.
And, I'm gonna start looking for my pro racer mode switch...:dundun:
Jocko 03-29-2008, 10:36 PM So i bought my 08 r1 a month ago, due to the damn weather haven't been able to ride it that much. I got 130 miles on it, and i bought some yamalube semi synth. Should i wait till 600 miles to change it, or will it hurt to do it early like at 250?

Hey, thanks, it's a pleasure to be here! Love this site, just found it and it's VERY usefull. Just wish the weather here in kansas will help me get out there and ride a little more.
speedster1 07-24-2008, 01:08 AM Is it not a warranty issue if you don't take the bike for its first service at 600miles/1000kms?:dunno
My R1 has just hit its first 1000kms - which I've ridden it "like I stole it", as my dealer said that he ran his R1 in on the track. I obviously changed the oil at 100kms and put in Motul Semi-sync and a new oil filter.
My "stealership" wants $250 for the first service - which I'd rather spend on tuning bits for the bike??????
