Hi, I MUST do chain and sprockets as soon as i get time on my '98. I wanna go 2 down i.e 14 on front and keep rear standard. is it advisable ? , would it put more load on the (supposedly) very sensitve front sprocket bearing or should i rather only worry bout how easy she gonna come up and try to loop me ? Thanx Guys Also can anybody maybe explain (or refer me to a site) what pitch means when referring to a chain. also does a chan come out the box as one big endless thing or does one "have to rivet one end to the other (depending sprocket size) to " finish" it ? plse excuse q's. i'm fairly new to bikes

Chain comes out the box with a master link to join the two ends of the chain once fitted to the bike.

I'm in Durban, bike is red/white. Maybe try getting a generic steel sprocket, those you can usually order in different sizes. May need to take a sample to match it up. Most bike shops should offer the generic sprockets. I haven't had any problems with the generic sprockets, as long as you look after them and keep them lubed. Remember, 1 tooth in the front equals about 3 or 4 teeth at the back.
