commanderbob 04-28-2007, 03:40 PM Anyone done it??? I'm a complete noob to supermoto, and would like to maybe get into this stuff. Would it be hard to convert my bike into a motard bike? How much money you think it would take? I DEFINATLEY want to do some track days when I'm older BUT I'm a bit short on $$ :( So rather than waiting a few more years...................Super moto is the answer!?!? Could I do trackdays with it? And possibly race it? *the supermoto section is a bit dead* So do not move this mods...or ''else'' :) :sing: Any help will be appreciated :rock
AnonymousR1 04-28-2007, 03:42 PM TTR125 would be good for mini moto, but not a full out motard..not fast enough..
Jacob 04-28-2007, 03:54 PM Have a look at supermotojunkie.com. It would be a fun bike, you would have to find decent tires or do a wheel swap. Im currently building a Crf50 to do mini motard since its a lot cheaper than track days.
commanderbob 04-28-2007, 03:59 PM Would I have to get a diffrent swing arm? I'm not sure if street tires would fit ( I have the small wheel version)
Jacob 04-28-2007, 04:22 PM Try this. It looks like you are fine just getting tires for what you have.

www.semra.org (http://www.semra.org) everything you need to know about mini motrads
Super_Dave_344 04-30-2007, 07:25 PM Ohh heck yeah!! A motard TTR 125 is the ticket.I love mine & have been ridding/racing it for 4 yrs now & its fun.Its like any other bike or sport/hobbie out there you can do it cheap and have alittle fun with it or go all out and be fast & look sweet but its gonna cost you some $$$$. Heres a pic of mine, its got 17 inch Sun line rims (2.75x17 front & rear),stock hubs,YZ 80 forks,Works rear shock,BBR frame cradle, lightened flywheel, big cam,BBR air filter,GYT-R full pipe,Pro taper bars and tons more stuff. As you can see the parts list can add up fast if ya wanna do it right but you can get by with just a few things & some decent tires on stock wheels if your on a budget. Im considering selling this one but not totally sure yet.

Super_Dave_344 04-30-2007, 08:20 PM thanks! I have more i just need to get them uploaded. I have all my dirt wheels too so in 10 mins i can go back to dirt & ride year round.
Gawarrior 05-01-2007, 10:54 AM FOZZ, you still coming to the Convention in June?? we need the motards to represent!!
fjorn 05-01-2007, 07:12 PM Dave, where did you get the frame cradle on the TT-R?
Super_Dave_344 05-01-2007, 08:39 PM THe frame cradle is from BBR motorsports. They are a must have for any adult on these things or for a kid whos jumping or ridding them hard. They have a built in skid plate & they also connect the frame completely.Without the cradle the engine is the only connecting point of the frame & it will strech and cause problems. I bet if you buy one you will have alittle trouble getting bolts to line up as im sure the frame has stretched some already even if its only been "lightly" ridden. You can check them out on ebay or here.....
http://www.bbrmotorsports.com/Products/Products.htm
they come in gold (BBR standard color) or in blue.Mine was gold & i had it powder coated black & looks much better.
fjorn 05-01-2007, 08:44 PM Thanks Dave. I'll have to order one up soon. The TT-R has only been ridden a few times so far, so shouldn't have stretched too much yet.
Super_Dave_344 05-01-2007, 09:41 PM cool if you have any other questions feel free to ask. is yours all stock? Have you re-jetted it yet? If not let me know cause i have some usefull info for ya
fjorn 05-02-2007, 04:18 AM It's still bone stock. It's a freshly uncrated 2005 TT-R125LE that I picked up this year. First thing I noticed is that it needs to be rejetted as it barely runs at idle and just off idle.
I'd like to rejet my YZ-250F and YZ-450F as well, but not too concerned about them at the moment.
Super_Dave_344 05-02-2007, 02:18 PM well on the TTR you need to go up to a 17.5 piolet jet & a 110 main jet. THis will make it start dramaticly easier & warm up quicker as well as help with the idle. They are jetted waaay lean from the factory & i dont know why they do this.Leave the needle in the stock location. You can remove the back fire screen from your air box & also cut a few holes in the top of it to help with air flow.Ill take a pic of mine and post it maybe later tonight.Alot of guys cut the whole top of the air box out but i didnt want to have that much open space to let dirt/mud in.A BBR or GYT-R air filter will help as well. You will notice some differances with these mods but wont really see the differance till you go back and ride a stock one then you see it makes it better.Dont get me wrong this wont be a "snap your neck" power increase but helps fort sure.A pipe will help alot too but beware...... alot of pipes wont work with the frame cradle including most stock pipes lol weird huh. When i get a chance ill post the list of what pipes work with the cradle & what ones dont.
fjorn 05-06-2007, 06:38 PM :thumbup
Thanks Dave. I'll look into that. I think the first step is to get the engine cradle so it doesn't stretch anymore. I have the factory exhaust, and this is the TT-R125LE with the larger tires. Hopefully it'll work.
I'll have to wait until after the gap trip though for it.

That's one nice TTR you've got.
I was way too cheap to build mine. Just changed knobbies to touring tires (Dunlop GT) and replaced the high MX bars with completely flat one (found it at Cycle Gear). Got stiffer springs from BBR which somewhat helped with my 200lbs. Syanding side by side with my R6 it almost had the same geometry. This is basically what a mini is: a learning sportbike. You ride it knee down: road racing style. I think the initial cost of that sportsman conversion was $300.
To make that bike somehow competitive, it needs to be completely rebuilt. Everything is crap: suspension, brakes, etc. The motor comes alive only after the 150cc kit install plus a bigger carb (both available from BBR). I also had an FMF pipe plus UNI pod filter instead of the airbox. The suspension was next, but I just evaluated the cost/benefits and decided to get rid of it and buy a big tard: KTM 450SMR.
Think what you're gonna do with it. Maybe you're better off getting rid of it a building a tard off a real MX bike or at least competitive mini like the new CRF150R (not F). Just my 2 cents.
