If you decide to get a tail stand for your 2k7 r1, I would NOT get a swing arm pad-equipped stand. They work great for most bikes - HOWEVER - the 07 has that triangular swing arm and if you know anything about geometry, you can just look at the bike itself and imagine what is gonna happen if you lift with a pad tail stand.
The rear triangular swingarm has a pretty mean angle to it sloping towards the sky, so when you lift the bike onto the stand, that angle is exagerated A LOT. It seems stable when the stand goes over center and lays onto the ground... HOWEVER, any rattling, cranking, or minor bumps and that stand starts to slide back along the skyward angled swingarm until she drops clean off. LUCKILY I was right there to catch my baby when this happened, chanted a few choice select words to communicate my frustrations with the rest of the world around me, eased my girl onto her kickstand, and proceeded into the house to find the receipt for my newly purchased tailstand for immediate return.
I now have a fork equipped tail stand and it works GREAT. It's as solid as a rock and grips onto my baby good n tight around those swingarm spools and prohibits any and ALL longitudinal movement along the frame.
Happy wrenching...

when you are reffering to the swing arm pad-equipped type,is this what Graves type swingarm stands are?
I just got a Graves swingarm and Graves spools from Graves today for my 07 R1 and after reading this i am a little concerned before i use it.
thanks for the help..............

As long as you purchased "spools," which are the little hourglass shaped screws that are threaded into the rear of your swingarm, then the only type of stand that integrates these, is a fork-type tailstand. Sounds like you got the right one.
A pad-type swingarm tail stand has flat rubber coated channels that simply slide under your swingarm. These ARE NOT RECOMMENDED for the 04-07 R1 (due to the triangular shaped, up-sloping swing arm)
