Second gear Problem

I think my second gear is gone. every time i hit the throttle hard in second gear it slips. all other gears are fine what can i do to help fix this problem. i got quoted on prices and they said about 1500 to do gear replacement and one have any other ideas?

sounds about right because you normally have to change the two gears that mesh together to make second gear.....its the labour thats a killer cause whole engine has to be split

It depends where you are and what sort of mechanic/ Dealer you use . I had the same problem. Left it too long to get fixed and had to have 2nd and 3rd gear replaced. I got the two gears done plus labour for under £600. I you have the knowledge then you could save yourself quite a bit on labour if you remove the engine yourself

i have the same problem... this will be the second time ive had to fix it... so gay.. stupid gear box..
