Seen them at the track. People tha ti've talked to hate them or love them. You better have a hitch that has a toung weight of over 500 lbs. Personally the idea of 4-500 lbs behind my rear wheels attached to my vehical would cause me to be a tich unstable. Those that i Have talked to tell me they dont' lik eit for that reason. IF you have a hitch...just rent a trailer for like 10 bucks a day.

Yeah will due.... I was gonna head down with glen Sunday.. how ya doin? I am looking around e-bay and they look anywhere from 200-300$ Plus my new apartments don't allow trailers and this I can put in my small storage closet! :fact I just want to make sure that it's 100% sturdy and won't bounce my bike off.

I've got a large hitch... can't remember but I do know my parents hauled around a 40ft 5th wheel with it so that i'm not too worried about, although I will surely check before I get it. I'm not too terribly worried about 400lbs on my tailgate because the extremely long wheel base of a suburban I should have no problems. Renting.... I was thinking about that... but the hassle is a pain in the butt!:fact... Rent trailer in Jax... 1 week X 15.00 = $45.00 + all the other crap they charge you so I'd be looking around $70-$80. OR rent one in Jax... drop off near fontana... have someone meet me... then do it all over again when I leave Fontana... I need something for soon to be track days, traveling anyways. PLUS... it's alot harder to steal this thing than an entire trailer I would think. I can back the truck up to a wall and store the ramp with me if I absolutely must leave the bike outside. :fact

I have seen them Dave but have never used one. I guess as long as your bike is strapped down good, you should have no problems.

I have one. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of doing security for GM executives and laying down laminate flooring so it's still in a box in the garage. I bought one from a company called GC manufacturing. Here's the site.....http://www.gc-carrier.com/pages.php?pagename=sbc After going on an ebay binge I kinda calculated it all up and I paid about the same as I'd have paid by going through the company site. Having only looked at it through the box I'd say it's pretty dang strong looking but could've used a powdercoat versus the paint they used on it. After seeing pictures of a CBR on one of their carriers mounted to an Expedition that supposedly rolled 7 times I was sold. The bike was still strapped in and the truck was fugged up from rolling. Only damage to the bike was the windscreen and upper tail section had some minor damage. If you're talking about hooking it to that big a$$ed Man SUV you conned your parents out of it should'nt be a problem. That thing should have a class IV hitch on it anyway. I'm definately not concerned about the weight of my bike on my titan. BTW if you get one , I might as well warn you that it's not as lightweight as it looks and the whole boxed setup is about 6ft long so it's unweildly as well as being a heavy bastard. I should be done with floors and protective work this week and I'll be able to put it together and mount it. The only thing I'm concerned with is the height of my truck.

Cool, I'll check that one out.... might even make some little weld modifications on it for different things like maybe a cooler rack!!:rock?

The carrier itself isnt going to fail. The weakest part is going to be your hitch. If your using a SUV you might have a problem with the rear suspension. The front will feel like its floating.. some helper springs in there might be nice.. but that is all gravy

Yeah I've seen those around... total pros/cons with me though. I know that it folds up to be 2x5 but I'm moving to a 1 bedroom apartment/no garage/3x3x6 storage. It will fit in storage I have but also take up a bunch of space that I will need for things. I could bring the trailer in the house and keep it but I'll already be keeping my bike in the living room. Also if I travel and pull into parking spots the hitch hauler I can back in against a wall or something and they can't just pull the hitch and get the bike. A trailer is a lot easier to steal. OH... I only have 1 bike anyways, and when i get a dirt bike I won't be needing to haul a street/dirt bike anyways.

I am also in the market for one, but having IRS I am wondering how it drives with that much weight on the rear end of it. Here is a PIC but cant really tell with the thing just parked. http://www.joehauler.com/camloc/355x220/image01.jpg

if money isn't too much of an issue, look up "trailer in a bag". Just type it into google and it will come up with some results. Very handy little thing, I think. Pricey but convenience generally is just that. I'm going to build one very similar to this so I can pull my r1 with my tdi jetta.....get 40mpg going to and from a trackday!

I have a harbor freight trailor that works great. I only paid a little over $220 at the time, but I think they are up over $300 now. The only problem I've had with it is that one of the casters broke that rolls it around when it's folded. They were kind of cheap, and I've been looking for some repacements that will fit. The only other issue I have is that I put 3/4 inch plywood on the deck, and it doesn't hold itself together when it's folded because the wood is so thick. I just use one of the tie down straps to strap it together and it stands just fine. You can borrow mine if you ever need it. Right now might be a little tough because I have it in storage with a somewhat non-running car in the way to get it out. I am going to do something with the car soon though. I made some different customizations like welded my own chocks and have lots of places to screw in eyelets to strap or bungee extra stuff to the trailor. I got locking hitch pins and I even have cut outs in the deck to allow room for a fat ass chain to wrap around the axel of the trailor and lock the bike to it. I live off of Beach and Hodges. Just let me know if you need to use it. It's cheaper than renting one, and I'll just charge you a case of Bud or something, hehe.
