Does the Fly by wire throttle have a fail safe

Say the fly by wire throttle servo is broken, can the throttle cables open the bodies without it? Or are you stuck with a dead bike? My brother said the R6 fly by wire throttle has this feature and I was wondering if ours does also?

if the 07 have this that could mean the throttle lag would be fixed and the bike will open up 100% under 7000rpm which would make our bike BEASTS!!! Fingers crossed for the r1 to have this

The FBW system on the 07 does have a "failsafe". If you notice there are still cables coming from the throttle. This is because the cables are there to manually CLOSE the butterflies when you don't want to have "go juice" flowing. They DO NOT directly control the open percent of the butterflies...that is for the ECU to decide. Therefore...Yes, you could end up not going anywhere if the FBW fails, or you could end up on one wheel till you close the throttle. But NO, This is not a fix for the pre-programmed lag in second at 5500rpm. :horse:

If that is so then why when the bike is shut off can you turn the throttle and you can hear the butterflies opening and closing. Also i been hearing alot about the lag under 5500 in 2nd. I have tried on many occasion to see what people are talking about. I give mine gas and the thing goes like abat out of h*ll. Maybe i got the "lucky one".

Sorry you are not lucky in this regard. If you have a US spec. 07 R1 they your bike has it. You can go to the thread to read all you ever wanted to know about it (except a fix) but basically you hold 5500 rpms for a few seconds in second gear and then wide open throttle and you WILL notice it. The reason you hear the butterflies open and close with the throttle is that they will open (No more than 60%) and close with the cables but the FBW will take over to manage them once you are "in flight".

is there a way to by pass that 60% throttle limitation? or we have to wait for the fix on the lag first then maybe work on a reflash for the ecu?
