I have a 2003 R1. I don't have the owners manual so I don't know what oil Yamaha says to use. Someone with a 03 R1 please tell me what it says in the owners manual. Thanks.

I believe it is any NON-energy saving 10w40. Doesn't Yamaha also recommend Yamalube 20w40?

I just use a well known brand of semi synthetic or fully synthetic oil specifically for 4 stroke high performance motorcycles every 2 -3 thousand miles + new filter.

I would like to know what it says in the manual. If anyone has it.

10W40 but I use 15W50 Semi Synthetic Motul for the past 27,000 miles without any problems, runs cooler and smoother.

it calls for just reg 10w40?

regular MOTORCYCLE 10W40...you have to use oil for motorcycles not cars since it's a wet clutch. or at least oil that doesn't have friction modifiers or something like that.
