Guys, I posted in the other thread as well. Uncle Ned is OK. His left femer was broken near the hip. A 45 min op, couple screws, zipties and duct tape, put him back together again. He is still in hospital but hopes to get out today or tomorrow. A crazy Harley hit him, even though he did his best to avoid the guy by almost moving off the road, the moron still hit him. Apparently the guy was riding way over his head and had blown all the corners before then. Sucks that he hits our Uncle Ned. Get well soon Uncle Ned, I am looking forward to hanging out with you.

just got back from seeing ned at the hospital and the man is definately in great spirits all things considered. the harley rider that hit him also rode with him to the hopsital in the same ambulance. the guy never even once asked how ned was feeling, how is that for a true jackass. all the harlery rider was worried about was finding the nearest harley dealer to fix his bike. some people honestly have ZERO business being up there on the dragon let alone on a bike. he hopes to be out of there by wed. morning and back over around the CROT by 10 am if they'll let him. he said he plans on staying the rest of the week and will just hang out and watch the zoo unfold. see you all when you get there. just be careful the road is getting busier and busier everyday. if you want to ride a good spirited ride shoot for the late evening/night to ride and don't ride it alone. through the day go hit up other roads around the area or just go find a place to park and watch the madness. all of the locals, well they don't ride during the day up there anymore, simply because there's too many people who don't know how to ride up there riding.

Apparently, the harley jagoff started balming some guy on a FZ1 who was behind him, stating he "was pushing me really hard....." Well, then PULL THE FUGG OVER YOU STUPID POS!!! LOL. Yeah, it was PJ (PJFZ1) two bikes behind him . . . on a GS500!! PJ was making his way through the parade of Hardleys, and when he got to the second guy from the front, he realized how poorly the two in front were riding and backed off to wait for a long straight to pass (Parson's branch was just a few corners away). The HD rider hadn't stayed in his lane for a dozen turns. He blew a really tight, downhill, right-hander and almost went in the ditch. He managed to save it only to ride down the wrong white line for 30 feet directly into Ned who was hard on the brakes and almost stopped when they impacted. PJ stopped to tend to Ned while I hauled ass to the store to call for an ambulance and bring back some cold water for the victims. While PJ was talking to Ned, one of the riders he had passed in the pack came over, not to ask how Ned was doing, but to tell PJ it was all his fault. Whatever. Our friend, Sean (KYJeep40330 aka H3then) who owns an FZ1 but was on his Harley for the weekend (and knows how to ride), walked over to where the HD riders had stopped, looked at their Michigan license plates and said "Curves suck, don't they?" Ned . . . sorry about the leg. Glad we could help in a small way.

The enemy,,,,,,,,,,,,,800 lbs. plus fluids, two riders, gear and luggage at 40 mph equals broken leg, http://www.motorbyte.com/MMM/pages/reviews/reviewpics2/review46b.jpgHandling is pure cruiser. The Electra Glide wears its 800 lbs. low, so it steers lightly. The suspension, while improved, is not that of a sport-tourer. The Classic coasts over slow-speed bumps and absorbs minor potholes like a '78 Chrysler New Yorker. But mass and a long wheelbase work against you in stutter bumps. When pushed hard, the mighty 'Glide becomes unglued. But hey! That's not what an Electra Glide is about, right?

You guys have no idea how the "stupid asshole" factor has increased with the HD crowd this year. I'm serious. Stories to come. No schitt, a bunch of us had made a run and were sitting at the overlook when I overhear a guy on a HD talking to another guy riding HD. He say's, "I'll give you a tip, don't give an inch to these crotchrocket riders, hold your line, right down the middle". I was actually shocked at the attitude because this guy had just nodded and said hello when I got off the R1. So I leaned over so that only he and the other guy could hear and said, "That's allright asshole, if you don't give it, we'll just take it." He just rode off. Ned, sorry we only got to meet and not hang out. Take the guy for all he's got. Hope to see you next year. Keep us up to date on the insurance/legal battles and good luck with it. PG

I hope you do! I had 2 red/white 98s and I still miss that color. I didn't have the opportunity to get to know you this year, but I did catch you on the way up the ramp at CROT in your situation. Me, "Ned can I help you up the ramp?" Ned, (VERY matter of fact) no." I love that spirit my friend. Sorry for the abrubt "no" but that was some old guy with a hurting leg talking! Not sure how much spirit was involved:) Went to the ortho doc today and got good report. Seems I'm doing better than expected, incision is healed and clean, screws still screwed, plates still plating and bones still boning! Got my bump up to Advance group and a set of crutches. Even though they said that I looked like a natural on the walker:rock . The swelling and brusing continues to improve each day.It will be 4-6 weeks at best before I can load up the bad leg with full weight. I'm thinking about starting a spiinning or stationary bike program to get the knee loose and to keep the muscles toned. Thanks for everyones help and encouragment along the way.

ned, glad to see you are doing better and improving a bit each day. hope to see you back out and at it before too long. i know the sitting and watching is no fun. although i will say you had some great looking help while at the store. sad to say i won't be around next summer. we are moving to michigan a year earlier than expected so this time next summer i'll be in the traverse city area. where it's nice and cold 6 months or 7 months of the year

Awesome news Ned. I told ya you would be giving up the walker to crutches in a few weeks. Keep working at it, but don't over do it too. Will you be doing any physical therapy do the road?

Four weeks today and I sure miss riding my bikes! Stilll have about 5-6 weeks before I can put weight on the leg so I'll be crutching around for a while yet. So far so good with the healing process..... Got my copy of the accident report from THP and other rider was not issued a ticket of any kind. It did say on the report that he contributed to the accident. so there is no question that the liability is on him. Still stinks that you can cross the yellow line, ride in a reckless and dangerous manner, cause a serious accident and get a free pass on tickets from THP. Ridesafe everyone!!!
