yo bikers,

My lower exup cable has snapped for the third time in a year. The first time i purchased a new exup cable a €80. The past 2 times i fitted a bicycle cable a €2. All 3 lasted about 3000 km. I have checked the play of the cable for sharp pins or something like that, looks all fine. All 3 times it snapped about 3 a 4 cm's from the valve's side.
Did anybody had the same problem? And what did ya do ?

thanks,
tom

The exup valves are still working beacuse i noticed a sudden downfall in power. The r1 feels like my vfr, so prob about 50 hp less because of the closed valves.

Ok, so this morning I gave the exup valves a good look and found the problem, here's what i did;

I completely removed the exup valves en lubricated them with coppergrease.
Everything looked fine, valves opend en closed smooth en completely. I made some new cables en took one hour to adjust them with help from the self diagnostic mode. So i had them perfectly finetuned. Then i installed the cable cover en found out that when the valves operates the cables have just enough free play to touch the cable cover. The cable cover is a bit sharp at that point and that must have been the cause of the snapping cables. I bended the exits of the cover so that the cables dont touch them, and if they do its no longer sharp. Hopefully i wont have the problem again and that it can of use for some of you.
