Can anyone give me some input on jersey and pant set ups, particularly from troy lee designs? I just bought a KTM450SMR and am wondering if I should try the jersey set up, but I don't want to end up with any road rash. The vest with pads extends low around the waist, but I haven't tried the stuff on. I imagin that they are cooler than leathers, which will be nice here with the 100+ temps. My only issue is that I will most likely need to modify the pants and place a knee slider on them. I have a street bike background with massive lean angles, I imagin I will do more knee drag'n than foot planting. Please offer me your opinions!
+ do the troy lee pants come with knee pads or you have to buy those seperate?
Congrats on the KTM :)
My plan for gear is Astars leathers & hoping to get the new spine / check protector they just came out with.. Im to fradgille to get banged up so im gonna tuff it out with the heat & go for the extra protection..

Track only??? Your tech guys will tell you whats OK.
I don't know the troy lee stuff, but I'd prefer to be wearing leather for protection on pavement. Obviously perforated is cooler. MX helmet is a lot cooler than street bike helmet.
Looks like the tld leather speed jacket is what you wear under the jersey. I wouldn't wear the jersey without it.

Yeah, I was thinking on buying the new supermoto alpinestars leathers, it is just that I can get supermoto boots and all of the jersey style gear with pads and gloves for about 200 more. Not to mention you can set is all up to look real pretty and shit. I will have to take some time to think about it, i have spyke leathers already, the first thing I need to worry about is supermoto boots and a MX helmet.

I wear the Alpinestars S1 supermoto leathers, though I'm thinking about picking up some TLD gear to practice in.
SIDI Crossfire boots are great and have replaceable sole's.
I got the new Astar Tech 7 boots & not being a dirt biker - had a hard time getting feel control on the foot brake & shifter as they are Heavy Duty solid mofo's.. So I got the SMX-R & there the Chit - QUICK on / off - great feel - comfy..
Would rather have the Tech 7's on in a crash though..
Check out the Arai Xd Motard helmet - GREAT Helmet...

Yeah, you'll be wanting to wear those Tech 7 if your track has any jumps or offroad sections. The street boots are just to light to absorb the impact from jumps and your soles will start to sting.

go with full leathers fur sure. If you say youve already got leathers then just buy some good boots & hit the track and dont worry about looking all "pretty & stuff" it wopnt make you any faster. just my 2 cents
I wear full Astar stage perforated suit with teknic road race boots and it all works out fine.

Thanks guys, I think your right. I will just pick up some boots and later on I can buy a new helmet. Right now I will just ride with my road racing stuff. I am thinking of getting the Sidi boots. My wife will be happy that I am not spending an extra 1,000 dollars.

How good do the soles on the tech 7 boots work? I have yet to see a picture of the bottom of them. I don't want to spend $450 on a set of Sidi's, they are sweet but tech 7s are half the price.
