mods, if this is in the wrong forum, please move it.
blount county got a nice big ole grant for overtime funding. through the end of summer you can count on at least 3 Blount County Sherrif's on the gap. they are there from roughly 10 am - 6pm or so.
if any of you come down and plan on riding. it is in your best interests to be completely legal, license placement, mirror, working headlight/brakelight. better have insurance card, registration, and your own DL.
they will be here through at least the end of august and probably sometime into september.
just thought you all should get a bit of a heads up

It's hard to make it there often when you're 550 miles away!

I would cruise through a couple of times to see what was going on! Its always good to do that anyway to see how the road conditions are.

That's what I love so much about the Dragon. Compared to roads around here, the Dragon is smooth sailing as far as road debris is concerned! Still ,look for cops though:drunk:

You know, I checked that place out a bit while I was there this time sorta like I scout out places to set up and run laser. It can be done but it'd be damned hard with a laser due to the lack of space needed for closure and a safe spot to stop a vehicle. That's with laser.................with a radar you could do it but it'd hardly be honest. There's so many turns that you'd more than likely be picking up the wrong readings due to the fact that any target vehicle would most likely be at an angle , which would to the officers benefit give a lower reading than actual and to the riders benefit be incorrect to an unknown degree. So if the radar read 12 over the limit you'd actually be doing more than that but how much more is anyones guess. Since the object is to obtain an acurate reading you could'nt be cited specifically. Around here we just call it a violation of a traffic control device ( Speed limit signage. ) I know they've done it before but I honestly would'nt want to participate in a goat rope like that. The best charge I could think of for up there is careless or too fast for conditions. But if there's only going to be one or two deputies up there on the Gap all that should be needed is a healty dose of respect and everyone should be ok. By respect I mean , ride through first and find out where they are , then respect the area that they're in. When I work speed I don't give a damn if people go 1000 mph across town, but if they're doing it by where I am then I'm packin a hammer. And I'll take care of across town the next day.

ride safe all..............
If there's three of them I don't doubt one will be determining speed and notifying the other one around the corner in a safer area who to flag over and give the ticket to. You'll probably find out that Killboy & Co., and others will get regular updates by riders of where they are at, etc....and have pretty up-to-date info. My suggestion is have the CROT store get a police scanner and "listen in" to the activities as well, or bring your own and do the same thing.
