Ok so im practically 99.9999% of the way towards deciding on a yamaha r1 ! Im between the fireblade and the gsxr. The blade and the r1 look nicer. But i think the yamaha r1 (while it is a littler pricier in these neck of the woods) has that extra something exotic italian thing going on. As for power.. i figure all are far more than i could ever want. Basically only reason im moving from a 600cc bike is because im crippled on the longer trips (im 6'2") so the 1 liter bikes tend to be that bit bigger and coming from a daytona 675 ... i figure the r1 is like an armchair! So i have two decisions to make... 1) in Uk i can get black or blue (red white is out cause i dont want hassle keeping damn thing clean). 2) what cans to get ... termi's or akraprovic or better? Im told the blue r1 is a little quicker than the black... what do you guys reckon ;)

I seen a study in last months Cycle World mag on the blue, black, yellow and red. it went like this the blue was the fastest 1000 they ever tested, the black was ok but far from the blue, they said the red was so slow they thought they were testing a 600. they said if yer going to buy yellow to just go buy a kaw 500. hope this helps ya............

I am the same height as you and I find my friends daytona 675 much more comfortable then my R1... So i have two decisions to make... 1) in Uk i can get black or blue (red white is out cause i dont want hassle keeping damn thing clean). Keeping a black bike clean is a full time job, trust me when I say white is by far the easiest to keep clean. 2) what cans to get ... termi's or akraprovic or better? Both are excellent quality and performance, just depends on what you prefer in terms of appearance. Im told the blue r1 is a little quicker than the black... what do you guys reckon ;) Charcoal is the fastest, but sorry that is not an option for you....:sing:

I am the same height as you and I find my friends daytona 675 much more comfortable then my R1... Im surprised to hear you say this ? I would have thought the lower seat height, longer reach to the bars and less cramped legs would have made the r1 much more comfy on a longer trip (2 -4 hours )... while none of them will be pan european levels of comfort... i was honestly expecting you to say something different. Can you explain your findings ... im genuinely interested... also have you ridden any of the other 1 liter bikes... how did you find them comfort wise ... i sat on the r1 and it definately felt the biggest of the bunch.

Red is so fast you get home the day before you left.sorry i just thought this was extremely hilarious, i laughed for like well only 10 sec. but still very good answer. And oh yea the blue is the fastest, j/k they are ALL R1's with the same engine it all comes down to the rider.you really think yamaha would make every color R1 different :dundun: just pick what 1 you like and ride out. cause i seriously doubt you will ever push any of them to there full potential, but the best immediate upgrade is to buy either pilot power ct2 tires or a good set of perellis first, and some steel braded brake lines best investments you can make

The 675 is alot more comfortable to me then my R1 because of how skinny it is, more upright and more relaxed riding position. As for comfort, I would rate the other litre bikes like this for street riding comfort position wise. 1. Honda CBR1000RR 2. Yamaha R1 3. Kawasaki ZX-10R 4. Suzuki GSXR 1000 Thats how I rate them in terms of comfort for my 6'2" 214lb frame.

Well I have a candy red R1. True story. It was parked at the mall and when I hopped on my bike and started to strap on my helmet 4 cops swarmed and told me to shut it down, the key wasn't even in the ignition!!!! Needless to say I got a speeding ticket for looking fast, try that with another color.

This question is so old. Everyone on this forum knows that the black ones are faster. Yes the blue comes from the factory in Pro Racer Mode.... the others you have to do it manually, so therefore the blue is faster. :fact

blue ones have 186 horsepower to the rear wheels. all the other colors were designed with a nonefficient drivetrain which decreased the horsepower on the dyno down to a measly 145hp. also ive heard roomers that blue is scientificly proven to be more arrow dynamic and also 15 pounds lighter than all the other R1s.:fact
