Okay so I've gone ahead, bit the bullet, traded the '03 and bought the '07. :rock We in Sunny South Africa get the European spec so I've gone with the Midnight Black, added some new Black Micron GP Cans (can't find anything on the web about them) Will post pics when I get her. I'm told I am the first in SA to have them fitted as they only came into the country on last week. Now after many, many stories I would like to hear some views on running a new R1 motor in? I pick the beast up on Thrusday for some decent timein the seat this weekend. Your :secret: advise will be greatly appreciated.

It seems most enthusiasts say to break it in hard, using varied revs. It's not that i doubt some of these guys knowledge as i know of research that has been done to back up that thinking. The only problem i have is just why do manufactuers say to go gentle for a 1000 miles before giving it welly.

Stick with the owners manual dude. I have been a service writer for over 7-years for Honda and Acura. I became a hero to a lot of my clients just by reading owners manuals from all the different models. For real, just stick with the owners manual and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the replies, here's what I did first 200 KMs took it easy. Dumped the oil, replaced the filter ('cause I'm a pedantic fW#%) Then went in hard. Followed some other advise of rolling on hard in each gear and let it cool down for a bit. It went in this morning sounding sweet for the obligatory 1000km first service. OMG it's a beast! You'll see some new threads when I do the mods, (end of this month) - power commander, Y-pipe cat elim, quickshifter, . These pics were taken straight after the weekend (980km in 2 days) so excuse it being dirty. More to come (when it's clean) on other threads, I saw some talking about black pipes and and.

always run em in like you stole em .... and if it comes with synthetic oil -- dump it, put some dino oil in it for break in then put the good stuff back in
