JPWarrior 07-25-2007, 04:01 PM Hey Kev, thanks man! Great odds for you. I might consider offering more tickets....
This thing is f'ckn' wicked! (in my best native tongue). I acquired it when I bought the trailer. Between Snakeyezzz, Crazytex, and I we decided it's best to raffle it off.
I know the people who have sent me money already so it's easy to figure out who they are but please try to include your forum name, the amount of tickets you'd like, and the title "Spud raffle" so I can keep track of the donations from the raffle, trackday (pending) and the memorial patch.
Once again, thanks for your support and understanding.
Forgot to mention it comes with a Spare "NOS" labeled propane bottle like the one pictured.
,Shawn.

Good one Shawn. :lol I wasn't up on the hill when he was using and letting others use it, and I wouldn't have a use for it. I'd probably have to see if Chad or Shane or someone would hold it indefinitely for me.
But I think it will return to the convention. I trust the tickets will be bought by those that knew Glenn.
Skeeter 08-03-2007, 04:17 PM Shawn, I'll pay you for tickets and the patches in person when we do the Jennings track day Sept 23. Is this ok?
OK... I'm going to up the ante on this whole thing :)

Kevap 02-21-2008, 11:11 AM We need more action here... Convention goers don't miss out on this awesome raffle!!! Lets show our commitment to our fallen brother... please buy some raffle tickets!!! :yesnod
~R1CrazyTex~ 02-21-2008, 12:56 PM I'll be buying a buttload of them but gotta wait till a little closer to the convention so I have the $$$. hell I helped him build the damn thing in his garage 1 day before we caravanned to the Gap, we could'nt get the rear screw top off because he painted it AFTER he screwed it on!!! That was a HUGE PAIN!!
Then we tested it on some unsuspecting turtles, and fine tuned the propane resivoir.
Peg Grinder 02-21-2008, 01:24 PM I'm in, next payday.
JPWarrior 02-21-2008, 08:06 PM Took a few minutes to find this thread. Thanks for relocating it Kevin. I'll be selling raffle tickets up to the convention. Good luck fellas!

JPWarrior 02-22-2008, 11:48 AM I need to tweak the ignitor. ...getting a few miss-fires lately. Perhaps a battery operated version would be prudent?

Now that's better than my plan. Couple of neighbors are going to be putting "missing kitty" signs on telephone poles if I win it.

JPWarrior 02-22-2008, 05:07 PM Dave,
Do you know where Glenn got the rubber hose and fittings from?
JPWarrior 02-22-2008, 05:09 PM Ben,
We'll have a little fun on the 7th. :sneaky
I hope we don't take out the neighbors pool enclosure!:vanish
~R1CrazyTex~ 02-22-2008, 06:29 PM Dave,
Do you know where Glenn got the rubber hose and fittings from?
Pretty sure that he got them from Ace Hardware or True Value Hardware Or home depot.
Wait, he had to special order the fittings... gimme a sec.... damn it right on the tip of my tongue too.... Grainger??? There's a local place in Jacksonville, a giant hardware type company. Damn, i cant remember the name. I know he special ordered some of the fittings though.
Super_Dave_344 02-22-2008, 08:21 PM hey crazy tex.......are we having another hold'em tourny at the gap this year?? That was fun and something differant to do after a long days ride.
JPWarrior 02-23-2008, 08:03 AM Thanks Dave, that sounds about right. We have one here in Daytona too. I'm looking to re-create this one so I have one to play with once this is one gone to the proud new owner. I'm thinking I'm gonna have a few T-shirts made too, in case the winner is, ...ahhem... larger than Glenn was. The original shirt will also go to the winner though!

Not sure, if we do someone else will have to set it up. I think this year I'm only going to come for the weekend instead of the entire week. If I do that then we won't have time to play on Friday / Saturday and everyone is leaving on sunday.

No prob Shawn, I got my plane ticket for bike week btw. I fly into Savannah on the 4th, Keri will bring me down on Thursday to stay with Steven then we'll ride down early Friday morning. He said he mostly hangs out at your house. But I plan on taking the warrior and heading to the strip for a little bit on Saturday to check it out. Other than that that weekend will be sweet!

Kevap 03-14-2008, 07:20 AM OK all you MFers!!! You need to start spending some money here. This isn't about a spudgun. It's about Glenn's family as all proceeds go to his 2 little girls. Don't make me get out the whippin' stick! BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!!! :flex:

Must be... can't understand why folks are intimidated. Or just waiting for the ticket sales at the Convention. :dunno
I'll have to PM you my potential plan for it. Have to protect myself from myself. Too many cats and squirrels in my neighborhood for me to have something like that. :lol
JPWarrior 05-02-2008, 09:09 AM Well, I'll be selling tickets but you'll have to come see me or catch me when I'm just hanging around. The Warrior brothers just came back from the gap and we fired off about 20+ lbs of spuds with little more than a few misfires. There wasn't a clean spot withing 100 yards in every direction. We peppered the campground and a storage facility with spuds.
What a legacy!!!
JPWarrior 05-28-2008, 04:32 PM Since I won't be coming this year due to extenuating circumstances I'm gonna need some help in the transportation and raffling off of the spud gun.
If I can get it up there safely, someone needs to sell tickets and pull the winner at the Yamaha dinner.
Goobr 05-28-2008, 05:19 PM Do you want me to come pick it up this weekend? :)
JPWarrior 05-28-2008, 05:24 PM Do you want me to come pick it up this weekend? :)

Sweet, see Goobr or GPD270 while you're up there.:thumbup
The spud gun has now been entrusted to Goobr. He showed up here Saturday afternoon and got the tickets, the shirt, and the spud launcher. Any further ticket sales are now in his charge. The raffle will be announced (by someone) at the Yamaha sponsored convention dinner on Saturday. You need to be there to win.
This fathers day, be sure to fire off some spuds in Glenns memory.:thumbup
Good luck to all, and know you have his family's sincerest gratitude for your generosity.
~R1CrazyTex~ 06-02-2008, 12:16 PM Wow, can't believe it's been an entire year already. :(
Well you can surely believe that this fathers day (first one i've been considered a father) will be a very humble day for sure!
Goobr 06-02-2008, 03:44 PM Bumpsky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep,,, JPWarrior really did bust up his ankle so he has trusted me to take over Elvis' Spud Gun raffle.
Between now and actually getting to The Convention, continue to PayPal JPWarrior and he'll let me know of who has PP'd him. Once at The Convention, I'll continue to sell tickets and turn the money over to JPWarrior when I get home. To get tickets at The Convention, just look up any of us on Shuckstack Rd and they'll get ya in touch with me. I'll be stayin' in GPD270's cabin. Once we're at The Convention, it'll be "cash only". 5 bucks a pop or 5 tickets for 20 bucks. Hit me up!!! :thumbup

Doing my best to make an apperance. I'm probably carpooling or something with James. I'll give it a definant we'll see maybe
Cool... hope you can make it! :thumbup
JPWarrior 06-03-2008, 09:41 AM Dave,
I hope you can make it too. You're probably the only other guys besides me, Snakeyezzz, and Roger (Glenns bro-in-law) who can operate that thing safely!
Just in case you don't make it I'm posting instructions for use.
Loading:
Load with breach chamber cap off!!! This is the black screw cap at the bottom of the gun. (loading with it on doesn't allow the compressed air to escape caused by pushing the spud down the barrel.) The propane needs to flow into the chamber and I believe it doesn't charge with the air compressed in it as well.
Best to use a full potato. (I cut them in half but don't get as much distance from small loads, although you get to hit more targets) Gently tap it on top of the barrel to get it lined up. Hold the spud while you're tapping it down to try to keep it from sliding off center as you press it into the barrel. Use the plunger rod to press the spud to the stop screw at the base of the barrel.
Install breach cap snug, NOT TIGHT. You won't be able to remove it without a pair of water pumps if it's screwed on too tightly.
Close the blue ball valves located on the side of the gun. (Closed is up)
Turn the black propane valve on. The pressure is set already so don't mess with it.
Open then close the ball valve (#1) that's most forward in the gun. (Make sure the second valve is closed first).
Open ball valve #2 (most rearward valve) then close it. You'll hear the chamber getting charged with compressed propane.
Aim, and pull the trigger.
Notes:
In my experience with this weapon, the wetter the spuds the more you'll have misfires. This is also why it's better to use a whole spud, as the skin keeps the wettness down.
In the case of a misfire, where you've tried igniting it multiple times:
Try to recharge the chamber once more with propane and ignite it. If it doesn't fire after several attempts with the ignitor, it may be fouled up. Remove the breach cap, and clean the ignitor. (I used brake cleaner on a rag.)
With the breach cap off ignite the remaining propane mixture. Don't put your face anywhere directly towards the back of the gun or you'll singe your eyebrowns and eyelids off. (I've never done this BTW... LOL) You can peek at an angle but keep a distance back, cause the blue flame will come out about a foot from the back. When it ignites you'll hear it too. Once the mixture has ignited fire off the trigger a few times to make sure the ignitior is functioning. Once you do this recap the chamber and reload the propane charge and you should be good to go. If not, repeat the previous steps again.
Have fun. I'm gonna miss this thing. Thankfully I had it long enough to be able to reproduce it and make a few improvements. Next year we'll see if V 3.0 is up to snuff!
Goobr 06-03-2008, 02:56 PM Dave,

JPWarrior 06-03-2008, 07:26 PM My pleasure. This will also help the potential winner.
I was reminded Fathers day is not the 17th this year so make sure you get a chance to salute our friend on both Father's day and on the 17th.
You'd think as a dad I'd know this, duh! I never was one for holidays.

Good to hear from you. I'm sure we'll all have a good time remembering. And I wish the best to your family at this one year mark :( He never did anything half way, and I think that's a testimony to the whole family. Where ever the spud gun goes, I'm sure it will always bring up thoughts of Glenn.
Take care...

JPWarrior 06-23-2008, 05:55 AM Got the call last night from Dan. Looks like he won! Congrats to Dan and thanks to everyone who participated. Dan may come here and add a few comments about his new posession..
The Spud Launcher was raffled after dinner on Saturday up on Shuckstack Rd. I'm not quite sure the total number of tickets sold, but I believe we raised a few dollars.
I had tickets numbered 342795 through 342894. Ticket number 342830 was drawn, and I kind of ran out of breath and blurted out something like "I think I have that one." (Got emotional and at a loss for words).
The ticket was verified, and I was presented the Spud Launcher. Still stumbling over words I basically let everyone know that the Spud Launcher will be in the possession of Shane and is now R1 Forum property, so that it can be at the Convention each year and any other event we may have. Glenn was proud of having put that together to use with his friends. So that's what we'll do with it.
Thank you to everyone that bought tickets in support of this. Hopefully in a few days Shawn will know the total raised.

I took in $245 cash for tickets at The Convention. I'll get with Shawn today and either mail him a check or ride over to Daytona this weekend.

Thanks Scott. Anything for extended family.

Me too. I think there were more than a couple folks shocked when Gridlock and I unrolled the tickets to find the winner. Annette got a few pics of the tickets unrolled, and I sent the strip with the gun. Kept the winner for myself. I'll keep that one forever.

Super_Dave_344 06-23-2008, 08:10 PM yeah that was awsome of you to keep the spud gun a part of the group dan.
Olymp!A 06-23-2008, 10:53 PM I unfortunately never had the pleasure of meeting Glenn.
If I was no longer with my friends I would want to be honored just the way that all of you honor him. I can feel his passion, enthusiasm, humor, youth, and love of life through all of you that knew him. You have honored him just as i think he would have wanted to be honored. I am sure that he was with all of us on Saturday night and that he was pissed that we did not have any propane to fire a few rounds off for him lol.
Dan, it was a great gesture of you to donate the spudgun! I think you said it best when you said that he had built it to be with his friends and that is where it should stay.
I think Glenn is up there smiling and waiting for next years convention as eagerly as all of us are!

Thanks you for saying that! Although I've never met you I certainly would like to buy a beer for such an insightful and genuinely caring comment.)
I'm truly sorry the propane ran out. In my rush to get the gun to the convention I forgot to include the additional tank of propane. :chair:I just found it this past weekend when I was re-organizing my garage.:dundun::rant

James it would be nice for you to be apart of it. I am sure that we could work something out. As I do live in the city you would be flying into. I also have the toy hauler that people would like to stay in. But it would come at a price. :finger
