the bike: the yamaha yzf r1. i cant speak highly enough of this machine, im not going to give it a 100% because i can always find some thing wrong with something. but at this moment in time in 2002 the r1 is the best all round super sports for riding the twistys and for ballistic speed on the straights.it handles like a dream. 95% i have not yet found a bike to better 95% for all round speed/pleasure/buzz/performance.

And looks too Man!!! You can't forget the looks. It is hands down the best looking sportbike you can get for under $11k. Ok I know looks is a subject thing........but so is handling etc, etc. ;)

Can anyone give me some sort of comparison or the dirrerence between the '01 to the '02 model? I know the body is redisgned and its fuel injected now, but is it lighter? faster? What kind of HP stock to the wheel? Handling, riding position? Do any parts interchange from the '01 to the '02 model? Ohlins damper, rearsets, frame sliders? Both models still look a little similar to me. I've never owned a fuel injected bike and would like to know how different the power delivery is compared to a carbed bike. I have a good opportunity to trade up my red '01 for a red '02, but I just want to know all the little bits to help me decide. ANYONE PLEASE! THANKS

the best thing about FI: no choking it when you first start it! also, it's a lot easier to remap your fuel injection with a different map on a laptop than try to tune carbs...IMHO
