when I was pulling off at my exit going to work tonight, my tach/speedo lights starting dimming then flickered and went off. Bike shut off as soon as I stopped moving. Would not turn over after that. Starter barely made a buzzing sound. So I got a jump from a buddy and finished driving to work(approx 1.5 miles) and bike tach/speedo lights starting dimming again and bike dies while pulling into work parking lot. What could cause this? battery? The only things that I have recently done to the bike was lower the idle, it was at like 1800 rpm's and now I lowered it to like 1100rpms, and I changed the oil/oil filter. I have only ridden twice since doing that and they were short trips. could the idle adjustment have done something? I am kinda new to motorcycles and every problem I have is a first timer for me. any ideas to help troubleshoot?

check your regulator rectifier. This has happened to me twice. Once on my 99 and the other on my 04

sounds like regulator rectifier to me too, bit of a weak spot on the R1 so I hear! Did you adjust your idle when the engine was warm?
