So after months of my girl refusing to ride any further on the tiny stock pillion pad, I turned it over to local motorcycle upholstery guy Abe Ramos (aramos_1@cox.net). I told him, #1 priority: make it comfortable, I don't really care what it looks like. He got a little carried away I think, with the scalloping and carbon fiber vinyl...

And what a difference! Still too narrow to be confused with a cruiser seat, but 1000% more comfort over stock. I know it looks way too thick for the bike, but that's the price of comfort (and it also gives a little relief to cramped passenger leg syndrome). Well worth the $115 to be able to enjoy the R1 with my girl again.

as long as it gets the job done, that's all that really matters.

Did you not understand the initial post? Let me break it down for you so you'll understand, I'll hold your hand like a small child, it's a pillion seat.

Wow thats great! My god I need that. I cant pay my wife to get on the stock one. My seat is no treat either for that matter. I know the bike is not made for touring but I'd like to get a touring seat set. I dont care if it looks rediculous as long as its comfortable. Maybe I'll have the custom shop by me take a look at mine...

Nice to know someone else has the same issues.

I don't know where you're located, but I'm really satisfied with the seat... enough so that I would recommend him to anyone else. He has a really wide range of materials and can reskin and/or refoam your seat to your exact specifications. Shoot him an email and see what he has to say!

Personally, I don't want my wife on the back of my bike but for you and yours that looks like the way to go. I'm assuming it's easy to switch it back out again.
