This is an attempt to win a set of gloves for my wife. She started riding in March this year on a 500 Ninja ( good starter bike ) and at the time I sold my Gas Gas trials bike so she could have all the gear to start riding. Over the next couple of months she took to riding really well and progressed with great confidence ( proud husband talking :yesnod ) but I wanted her to have something with better handling and something more stable. So in June we bought her a 600 F4i ( I know it's not a Yamaha but the fit and feel were right for her and maybe later she will see the light :fork ) Well she has continued to progress well and loves riding but cannot find gloves she is comfortable with (3rd pair), we have looked around the dealers but she either doesn't like the feel or doesn't like the price. Now this is a woman who actually will not spend money on herself  and even if I say "well get them if they feel good " she will say " no they are too much, mine will do for now " even though I know she is still not totally comfortable. So there it is, a simple plea to get her a pair of quality gloves that she cannot moan cost too much and my attempt to reward her for the effort and commitment she has put into learning to ride and sharing in my passion. 312649 312650

okay my rashed gloves....wow...these things took a beating...but they really didnt hold up well for one lowside, basically i was heading out of the hospital from seeing my little brother that had 2 days prior crashed his kawi 626 and was in a coma...ne ways heading out to the main road, and took a loooooong left turn and across 2 lanes and between the big lane sized medians on my green light, but there was still gravel from some ice that had been there a couple weeks before, and hit the gravel patches at about 40 and lowsided sent the bike spinning and me sliding on my ass and hands for about 50 feet needless to say the gloves are done...and to add insult to injury my dad saw the whole thing and freaked, and a fire truck pulled in behind me with lights and sirens going....very embarasing.:crash so the gloves... the left one is the worst since it was a left side lowside. basically rashed the entire thing, ripped the pad off of the palm, and the fingers are worn down to paper thin. the right one has a couple holes in it from sliding it wasnt quite as severe on taht one, but it did rip the black pads completely off somehow....not sure of the quality that they were now:dundun: ... and im glad that i had full cuffs because it tore up the straps as well... i have been wearing them from time to time for reasons i dont know...anyways thanks for the opportunity guys!!glad the site is back online!

I have some small holes in my street riding gloves but I love them and will use them until the wind ripes them off my hands OR I win some. :) The real reason I would like the Komodo FX Race Gloves you are giving away is I will be doing my first track day next spring/summer and i'm told you need gloves that go over the cuff. Thanks Tom

High side at first ever track day at Mid-Ohio left my gloves busted open at some of the seams in fingers and blue padding is sticking out of back of right glove. Without gauntlet style gloves, I fear they may not let me participate in future track days, and without new gloves I may lack the confidence to ride with my fellow members when I meet them in Feb:( :sing:

***Edited to add pictures*** Unfortunately, the gloves never made it to the hospital with me. They cut them off at the scene and I never saw them again. However, AnonymousR1 or anyone else in the local area can corroborate everything I'm about to write here. I live around Washington, DC. Which is a jam packed area full of stupid drivers with ZERO regard for anyone else on the road. I was traveling down a busy local highway, 28, preparing to merge onto 29 and go to Red Robin (http://www.redrobin.com/) for lunch with a group of people from dcsportbikes.net Traveling at about 70mph, I merged over from the HOV2/Motorcycle lane behind a pick-up truck that I remember to be black. The road is jam packed, but traveling at a high rate of speed so I begin positioning to move over into the far right lane to take my exit, about a mile up ahead. Suddenly, a wooden packing pallet (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/74/Wooden_pallet_with_glove.jpg) flipped out of the back of the flatbed and hit me like a 50lbs bullet. The entire front end of my bike nearly instantly exploded and I flipped violently over the bars landing shoulder and head first into the asphalt. I began to flip again, but the bike came from behind and slammed into my back. The front end of the bike was obliterated and sharp, cutting deep into my back through the jacket I was wearing and tearing every muscle from the base of my neck, halfway down my hamstring. However, it knocked me down so that I did not flip through traffic and end my life getting hit by car. The final result: I broke the socket for my shoulder, scapula and tore every muscle in my back to include nerve damage of which I may never recover feeling from. My friend, yzfrobe from here on the board rebuilt the bike for me with parts provided by insurance. He works at a local motorcycle shop. Here are pictures from the incident: http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img027.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img028.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img030.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img031.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img034.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img034.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img032.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img033.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img036.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img037.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img038.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img039.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img040.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img041.jpg http://www.dcsportbikes.net/photoplog/images/13407/1_img042.jpg

312770 I really, really, REALLY need a pair of new gloves. You may think why does this clown need a new pair of gloves when he has a pair of brand new Spidi Penta gloves. I will tell you why, cause they are Spidi gloves and I have a Komodo FX suit. How could I possibly be seen tooling down the road with such a fashion mistake? I need Komodo gloves to compliment my suit. It is making me very self consious that I have a missmatched outfit. One of these days I am going to crash because of this. Do you want this to be haunting you for the rest of your life? You could easily prevent a life threatening crash by allowing me to win this contest. I would then be the envy of all that see me. I would feel and look like a million dollars, and I would spend my timing thinking of dragging my knee more instead of thinking if that guy in the Pinto noticed that my gloves did not match my suit.

OK, so there I am, just left the gym feeling good on a nice summer day off, riding on a road that merges from two lanes to one. I was in the right lane which doesn't have to merge. The suspect was in the left lane and needed to get into my lane, doesn't take a genius to find out what happens next. All of a sudden as I'm passing him, he jerks over into my lane. I grabbed the brakes and got over to the right as much as I could so as to avoid him, I did. But in doing so I hit a gravel patch in the road from a gravel parking lot just off the road and my front wheel dipped. The guy didn't even stop. So here is my plea: I don't need *new* gloves, I need gloves period. WINNER: BJester232 and GAPRIDER Week 1, Please send all of your contact details, gloves size and first and second color choice in a PM to SpidermanSS. why I think I need new gloves? because i use mountain bike riding gloves. the thumb is wearing out in one of the gloves and if you can't tell by now they don't even match due to the fact that someone had it set in their mind that they should have my right black glove more then me.

Back in 2000 or 2001 my wife gave me a pair of Alpinestars GP Plus Gloves. At the time they were almost as expensive as the AGV Teza Suit that I had picked up on a close out sale several years earlier. I have had the gloves for going on seven years now. I can't believe it's been that long . I have considered buying a new pair for the last two years but something always comes up that seems more important like car repairs etc. The gloves have survived two crashes and getting caught in the rain on several occasions. The leather is pretty stiff now due to age and I have repaired them a few times with the wife's sewing kit as well as touched them up with white and blue shoe polish so they don't look so bad but I really am about due for a new pair. I have attached a few photos of the gloves as well as a shot of one of my engine cases that I have hanging above my work bench as a quiet reminder that crashing can be expensive. Thanks for your consideration. :thumbup

Labor Day weekend. I was doing a trackday. I was there with a group of friends, but each time we got out on the track at different times so we hadn't really run together. Towards the end of the day we decided to all grid up together. It was a great session, we're all passing each other back and forth. My buddy passes me on the inside going into the last turn before the straight. It was a sweet close pass. So I set up to pass him coming out. We run down the front straight. I look back to give him a friendly gesture, then forward to setup for turn 1. Right then I lose the front end and get slapped on the pavement. As I shooting off into the run off area, I'm looking back to make sure: a) I didn't take anyone out. b) where is my bike and is it going to hit me. Here is my proof that gear works. Yes, my fingers swelled up like sausages, but no rash. I do end up with a trigger finger though. So I spend the winter collecting new gear. A nice little high side and this last pair blow apart at the seams. Again, no rash.

Riding home from Daytona Bikeweek, the night after the 200, I witnessed a horrific slide on the I-95 on-ramp from Speedway Blvd. The bike and rider appeared to be OK, thankfully, except for the rider's split left hand, a slice that cut about an inch and a half past the "webbing" between the left hand "ring" and "middle" finger. The rider's bike was operable, minus the rear brake pedal. I offered up my extra set of gloves to the rider (AGV's) to keep his left hand together, and I followed him to some "Immediate Care"-type Medical Center, as he said he was "OK to ride." By the time we get there, according to the doctor who cut the glove off, the guy's hand had already started to to heal (yes they cut my glove off). 30-plus stitches later, the rider, "Brian Bates from University of Central Florida," promised me he'd buy me a new set of gloves, "Whatever the cost." My good deed went unrewarded, because the phone number he gave me was bogus, and even though I gave him my business card and also two extra numbers I could be reached at, no luck. I could take a photo of the right glove I still have, but that would be worthless. If I win, I'd be genuinely grateful, if I lose, well, what can I say, if I see someone in need of some right hand protection, I'm prepared. And if you see a 06-07 ZX-10 that's orange with jack-o-lantern stencils all over it in Orlando, please give the rider a swift whack in the 'nads for me, would 'ya.

here is the story. I was riding with a few friends and did a simple power on wheelie in 2nd gear, nothin major. I got it up a few feet and my left foot peg broke off and I lost my balance and ended up twisting the throttle and going over backwards doing probably 80-90mph. I rolled for about 200 feet and landed in a ditch next to my bike. I got a lot of road rash. I am very very lucky to still be alive let alone have no broken bones. theres more road rash, but didnt take the pics. It's after the 5th so this must be for the 12th - mellow cruise on a beautiful day back down a two lane mountain road on October 19th when Johnny Tourist decides to pull a left across my lane to get to the turn-out on my side...in the apex of a blind turn. I locked up the front, went down and slid down the road as I watched my R1 slide on its left side down the road...until it got to the edge of the road, where it rolled over the top and slid in the dirt on its right side to complete the damage. Insurance has totalled the bike and we are now in the haggling/negotiating phase for dollar amount. Gloves did their job but apparently were a one-time use item. The red line is the path of Johnny Tourist, the green line is my path before I hit the brakes, the yellow line is where the R1 slid and the blue line is where I slid. Ride safely. :thumbup

Wow, lot of carnage here, I hate that I can be included in this but hey I need gloves and this was a great idea with great timing Shane. I crashed at Jennings last March at race practice and it took me out for the rest of the season. T2, I guess around 100mph high side. It was like slow motion. I felt the rear step WAY out and I knew what was coming next. I can't tell you exactly what happened step by step but things I do remember. First was the rear stepping out, next I was skeeting across the ground plowing through little tufts of patch grass and sand faster than I had ever experienced in my life. I remember thinking, "man if this ride was any rougher they would have to outlaw it." I was doing a slow awkward roll at different yaw axes the whole time and I've got different direction scratches all over my leathers. I never saw the bike the whole time but it impacted so hard it literally shook the throttle body/injector bank loose from the motor. (Didn't find that out until I tried to start the engine weeks later...another story.) I finally came to a stop and assessed my condition. My right hand and ankle were hurting the most. I struggled to stand up as the track ambulance was getting there. I looked down at my right hand and the glove was dripping blood out of the right pinky. I felt it and there was no pinky in there. I thought, "Man I've just lost my finger." I looked back in the direction of my slide hoping to see the finger but I had slid so far and there was so much wreckage debris from the bike I thought, "I'll never find that finger" so I waited on the ambulance. It turned out the end of the finger was ground off and the rest of it was sort of jammed back into my palm and swollen already into a bloody nub. I looked at the finger until 2 days later but my wife had to see it at the hospital. Looking at the blood encrusted finger of that gloves revealed that something sharp cut open the glove and I've got a V shaped cut that goes on the inside of my pinky and third finger. The doctor had to amputate/clean up the end of the finger at the last joint. I'm still trying to range of motion back into it. I can only wonder what dfference a decent pair of gloves would have made, and right now I need a decent set to go racing this spring. Can you hook a brother up? Man, could I use a new pair of gloves!!! My old Joe Rocket Speedmaster track gloves have taken a beating with two crashes. One low side and one high side. Both crashes took place at JenningsGP on the famous turn 8. My gloves were thrown away after crash two and I never got any pictures of them, but I sure could use a new pair for the track. Here's my story: I'll start with the low side crash. It was November of '05 and I was looking to get in some track time before heading up to Road Atlanta. There was a two week break in between this Jennings track day and the Road Atlanta track day. Man, you could not have asked for a better day to run Jennings. Perfect Fall Florida weather with mild temps and low humidity. A "Chamber of Commerce Day" as some would say. I was with my good friend Salvador. He was running the same R1 as me. It was even the same color. I had ran Jennings a few times before, but not at a very fast pace. I was running Michelin Pilot Powers on this day and knew as I gained more track time and experience I would need to upgrade to better rubber. The day started off great with me just having fun and not really pushing it. Salvador and I were following each other and sorta playing tag taking turns leading one another. At the end of each session we would critique each other on our good and weak points. We did this most of the day while enjoying the the time on the track. Lunch came and went then the track reopened. I was feeling pretty good and decided to up the pace a bit. It must have been several sessions after lunch when it happened. I had been flowing pretty good through turn 8. However, on this lap I must have had to much speed and could not scrub it off fast enough. You got it "Low Side" as I tried effortlessly to reduce my speed going into turn 8. I ended up eating the pavement with my hands and left side hip while staying with the bike as it slid off the track. I only suffered a few scrapes and was able to walk away from the accident. The corner workers got the bike loaded up on the trailer and back to the pits. From there I was able to assess the damage to my bike and my riding gear. My R1 did sustain some damage, but nothing major to the frame. So, now the clock was running for me to get it put back together in two weeks to make Road Atlanta. Well, I was able to accomplish this and had a good time riding the NESBA day at Road Atlanta. Here are pictures from the event. http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/1732/jenningsgp1ga5.jpg This is Salvador and me enjoying JenningsGP on the R1's. http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/971/sliverr1sqa1.jpg The two sliver R1's after arriving at Jennings. http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/6519/dscn0540sz2.jpg Mostly fairing and plastic damage along with the stator cover. http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/7771/dscn0539ge7.jpg Left clip-on was shot along with the frame sliders. Not to mention the gloves were rashed a bit, but sitll usable. The second crash happened in January of '06. Much like the Jennings track day in November the weather was once again a "Chamber of Commerce Day" I felt good, the bike felt good and was responding and the tires felt good. I was running a set of Pirelli SuperCorsa's SC 1 front and a SC 2 rear. As usual, I started the day off fairly easy and by the third session I really started to fall in the groove and was eating up the turns and a set of pucks. I don't know what it is about my approach as I come into turns, but I would catch everyone there and would be right on top of them in no time and ready to pass as soon as it was safe to do so. Well, next thing I know I hear the announcement over the PA saying the track is shut down for lunch since it was already noon time. A well deserved break was welcomed. I sat there with my good friend Salvador and we downed a few sandwiches and shot the breeze about the sessions we just completed. So far, it was a perfect day and I felt it was about to get even better. So, an hour later I hear the announcer tell the novice group to get ready. I hit the bathroom to take a squirt then come back to our pit and down a Red Bull. By the time our group is called the Red Bull has kicked in and I'm on cloud nine riding "so fast so clean" it ain't even funny. I can't even describe how smooth I was riding. It was one of the best days on the track I've ever had. Well, the day progressed on as did my riding skills and before we knew it the announcement went out for the last session of the day. Before we head out Salvador says to me "Hey, let's just make this our victory lap and take it easy". I'm like yeah, ok, whatever. As the session started I do take it easy for a few laps then up the pace. Now, this is where things become fuzzy for me. I would say it was very close to the last lap of the last session. I had been pinning the sharp apex in turn 8 all day long. On this lap I exit turn 7 as usual and set up for turn 8. I notice I'm dragging my puck a little early this time. Well, things are still ok as I complete the tun and start to stand the bike up. I apply the throttle then "BAM" it happens. Major High Side!!! Next thing I know I'm in the air upside down and so is the bike. I only remember seeing daylight, dirt, daylight, asphalt and more daylight. Well, turn 8 is a sharp left and all my bike and the damage to my body was on the right side. This happened so fast I never even felt the rear tire step out. I never had any warning to try and save it. All I can say is it felt like a giant throwing me down like a little rag doll. It feaking hurt. Several corner workers ran over and asked me if I was ok and tried to stand me up. I immediately collapsed and they called in the track ambulance with the EMT's. Long story short after spending all night in the Emergency Room in Sebring, Florida waiting and waiting to be seen here's the deal. After X-rays I find out my right foot is broke in four places and my right hand is broke with the pinky knuckle turned in the opposite direction it should be in. I have severe bruising and damage to my sciatic nerve in my left hip running down to my foot. Then they tell me I will need surgery. In the end I go through four surgeries and I'm out of work for three months. Needless to say my gloves were trahsed badly after these two track mishaps. I could really use a new pair. Plus, the Komodo quality is top notch and I could retire the real old Teknic's I'm using now. Man, it would be nice to get a set of those gloves. Here are pictures of the second crash. http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/396/newfolder051zz0.jpg Here is a shot of the famous or not so famous turn 8 at JenningsGP. http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/5549/newfolder054kt9.jpg You can tell turn 8 can be a hazard if taken to fast or getting on the throttle to soon from all the gouges in the asphalt. http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/1707/p1226000wo3.jpg Enjoying the day. This is a session just after lunch. http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/3913/image1la1.jpg X-ray on the right hand. http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/194/imagevl1.jpg X-ray on right foot. http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/3691/dscn0694mq8.jpg Right foot in the temporary cast after the first surgery. http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/4823/dscn0687zz0.jpg Right hand after first surgery. It was very hard to sleep with it on. I ripped up a few sheets too. http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/6163/dscn0681up6.jpg Talk about pain if I accidently bumped it. Well, I won't even discuss that. http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/6823/dscn0743oo6.jpg Here she is all torn down. http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/3875/dscn0741fr1.jpg Just waiting on the plastics to get back. http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/631/dscn0752ny4.jpg Tank repaired and all plastics back from a good body and paint man I know. http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/2334/dscn0779hn0.jpg Here she is all put back together after the nasty high side. I ended up selling it and buying a '06 R6. I really miss her too. So, inclosing. I know it's not near as bad as some of the others. At least I was able to walk away from the first accident. The second I was put on a stretcher and carried to the amublance. Again, I could really use those gloves for the track since my old track gloves were torn up badly. They would go to good use and not sit unused in the closet. this crash is from a couple of months ago. just went too fast on my favorite corner. bike slid out and so did I. we both hit the curb. as a result my helmet and gloves was damaged, so I need both now. as can see, the crack went about 2/3 around the inside circumference of the rear rim. it was caused by the direct impact into the curb. bike is almost all fixed now, but i still keep the rear tire as a conversational piece.

I'm just tossing my name into the ring hoping for a set of fresh gloves. Could use a decent / new set for hitting the track next season.

New Gloves?? :dunno I remember the day like it was yesterday.....my very first trackday at CMP with a buddy of mine and his 2 friends that I didn't know. The first session went well, but my buddy had a pair of gloves he just bought, they were his first time wearing them, so they were giving him a fit cause they were not broke in. I wanted him to have a good time, so I loaned him my pair of gloves and I used my back-up set. Well the very next session he ended up highsiding right in front of me, I still remember the sound of his helmet hitting the ground in front of me. needless to say, the gloves were TRASHED, yes, my gloves :rant But I couldn't take back the moment so they were gone. I was promised a new pair, but ya know how that goes. The trashed gloves are still in my garage on the shelf.....for a conversation piece

Whenever I bring my girlfriend along for a ride, I always insist that she wear my gloves. They are a little large for her, but I couldn't sleep at night if I knew that I caused any injury to her at all. She is my world, and for that reason, we've invested in great gear to protect ourselves. The exception has been gloves thus far for unknown reasons. I see the Komodo gloves are much much much better protecting than the current set of icon gloves I have. They resemble a set of batting gloves with minor padding on top. If I were to save money on buying myself a set of gloves, I would immediately head out and buy her a set of proper fitting gloves.

Nice little vid from Miller Motorsports park. MRA race event. Cominng out of Turn 1, I tag the back of a rider in front of me and tumble end over end at ~100mph. Cartwheeled the bike and rolled 12-14 times across the track and into the gravel trap. Relatively unharmed except the repeated knuckle bashes on the ground resulting in scaring on my right hand. Unfortunately no pics of the gloves but I have a vid and some bike damage pics... http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/bluedevild/?action=view¤t=DionsCrash.flv http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/bluedevild/Frontcrash.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/bluedevild/Rearsetdamage.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/bluedevild/Wheel.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/bluedevild/BentTrippletree.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/bluedevild/BentForks.jpg

got my gloves yesterday! I am impressed. They really seem to be made well and have some features that shows they are thought out to provide protection and be easy to grip the bars with. They have plenty of hard armor on the knuckles but on the inside on the palm area is where they stand out. They have this really tough material for abrasion protection on the palm area where my old gloves don't but it stops short of the thumb area so you can easily wrap the around the bars like a light pair of driving gloves. I love them.
