this I think is the funniest thread I can remember. I can't get the pics to open but hopefully that will be fixed soon.
I can remember laughing uncontrollably while reading through this one!

Erievon 11-03-2007, 10:30 AM I remember when Swede was saying he was relinquishing the forum to someone new, and how worried we were about what was to become of the Forum.
All jokes aside, Shane's done a phenominal job with this board.
rezar1 11-03-2007, 04:32 PM Several years back we attempted to have forum convention for the west coast. Bunch of us decided to meet in Vegas. 70 poeple originally said that they will come. By the time we got there, there were more like 15 of us. Even though not that many people showed up, we had a great time.
YamaDan 11-03-2007, 05:57 PM I few weeks ago, Shane had changed Captain Squids name to "I LOVE MEN.":)
I had this funny though that I could sign up as "Captain Squid" and poor Brad would be stuck with "I Love Men":sneaky .. So, I pm'd Shane and told him my plan.. I signed up, and started posting... :flex:
I was almost instantly Banned for "You know why":scared :hammer:
I was like crap...this is Saturday, Brad's not going to see it til Monday.. this is really going to put a dent in the amout of posts I can make to get the name out there.. Another PM and it got fixed..
So I posted everywhere the Captain hangs..even bagged on the name a bit.. Then Monday rolled around...waiting...posting... Waiting...:saw:
Then he saw it..was like hey what about meeeee... so then a little battle insued, :sissy: I got a ton of PM's :lol then I got another fun Idea.. In the thread I posted "did it work?" and someone said "did what work" at which point I put in his sig and said "THIS!"... :hammer: OH :flush: was that funny!! He's like I gotta call my gf...so he dosen't steal her too..:epimp
Then other members started grabbing it also...everybody had a squid sig:hammer: I had tears in my eyes for days...too funny..
I think over 6 threads were started on this topic..
Shane ended up giving him conditions to get his name back..which he has still not complied with... I threated to send him Gay Porn at work....and we were going to Ban him for not compling and let him sweat it out for an hour until fedex arrived, but they delivered too early:fact
Then this thread was posted..

I have never seen anyone take a joke that well... and it is still one of the funniest weeks for me on the fourm..
geom3133 11-03-2007, 07:19 PM Of all i read and posted mine is the one i got to finish after over a year of people posting and the thread going dead. I bought the custom undertail from hooligan_r1 on ebay sometime last year. Then i saw superbikes and they mentioned this website. I went on and signed up right away. So i sat on the undertail for a year until i saw threads for Boz Bros Moira exhaust. So it clicked get that exhaust and get the undertail painted and here we are. I found hooligan_r1's dead post from last year and opened up and finally got to finish it up for him. It has over 10,000 hits. Not bad at all. The thread is 05 custom undertail in progress.....pics... Here is the finished product.

First off, sorry for opening up this old wound Kenshin. :)
This one stands out for me because I was fairly new to the forum, I was part of this group buy and it was one of my first mods so I kept up with this thread until the last post. It gave me a good glimpse of how helpful, crazy, and ruthless this forum is. Plus, people still manage to slip this in and reference it in newer posts once and a while.

racerboy88 11-04-2007, 09:47 PM I just thought it was awesome when I saw the R1-forum meet at the Deal's gap. To see all those R1's in one place was great. Then seeing a sponsor there as well was cool.
Vman1300 11-05-2007, 08:26 AM For the last several years, I have seen and experienced some great times all provided by this great forum. From the countless number of humerous threads the leave us all in stitches from laughing so hard. A couple have been mentioned here: the Fleshlight and Kenshins Brake install....
From the 1st convention, I attended I knew there were a great bunch of people here. I was accepted for the Fatt Suzuki riding Kidd that I am and had a great time, riding and bench racing with all.
My 1st trackday was even brought on by talking to a few experienced track day hooligans. If I knew how addicting it was then....lol.
But, one forum moment that stands out to me........
On August 14th, 2007 when my wife and I recieved the terriable news on the cancer DX, once my original post was made....my cell phone has not stopped ringing since that day with concerned forum members. The same can be said for the cards and emails.
I have never experienced the outpouring of love and generocity, some from people I know and from many I have never met. To me this place is FAMILY.
I have said it many times, and it deserves repeating, THANKS to all involved for making the R1-Forum a great place to build bonds that last a lifetime.
Captain Squid 11-05-2007, 11:14 AM :lol @ Dan
My most memorable thread was late last year/early this year. Me and Vman1300 had a little PS battle going with Triprock........Chris PM'ed em asking for me to send him some pics of Kev, so he could fire back. I knew the right thing to do, tell him I didn't have any, but dammit I couldn't resist. I send him a few pics of Shane and said, "here ya go Chris, this is all I could find of Kevin" He replied back excited that he had material. he must have worked very hard over the next few hours because it was no time at all he had posted them up, thinking he was calling Kevin out. they were some of the funniest "Shane chops" I had ever seen, and me and kevin were in tears laughing so hard, as were several other forum memebrs I'm sure :fact
*this post is in no way asking for a name change. just rememberig good times*
MANOWAR@ 11-05-2007, 05:13 PM I can't find the photos but when VooDoo showed up with that girl from the lodge or where ever she worked and he was all proud and cocky then he threw a leg over his bike and kept on going. Broke his ankle. I still remember laughing so hard at that and at Al's description of her to everyone the next day in regards to how BIG she was "she's about ooonnnnnnnee FAT BITCH" :lol
I laughed so hard my cheeks and sides hurt.
Nude's girl!!!!! :boobies

Shadow Fox 11-07-2007, 05:16 PM I think the funniest post i have ever read was posted by one of our boys from england.
the topic gave the impression it was about something totally different.
The whole story verbatim i do not remember but it had to do with him shaving his harry A$$ crack and the troubles that ensued. there were alot of readers so i won't go into to details but i think Shane read it and i couldn't stop laughing at the way he described what happened.
there are alot of greta posts on this site but that is a sticker since my side still hurst from laughing so hard.

R1KillerDog 11-09-2007, 01:43 PM the most memorable event, in a sort of bittersweet way, is not a specific post or specific event but instead the reaction and outpouring of love, affection, brotherhood, commardaerie, etc... that i witnessed when we lose a fellow brother/man/woman rider! Most recently that was exhibited with ElvisWarrionr, whom i never had the pleasure of meeting personally, but I've seen that bond and strength in most every other aspect of this community!
Mr. Hooligan 11-12-2007, 11:25 AM For the first several months of lurking around the site, and all the references to homosexuality, I was kind of like, what the hell is this, a gay yamaha riders club. Between captain squid, and all the other forum pranksters, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Kangaroo's How-to's helped me out to the point where I became addicted to the modificication of my bike. Only after a couple months did I realize that most of the name calling was just in a joking manner. Iwas like, forget this convention, its probably sponsored by KY.

Captain Squid and Bogie are gay. Thats a fact.
Skeeter 11-12-2007, 05:12 PM One of my most memorable R1-forum moment is not a Homo Thread in Off Topic, but rather an event that took place at the 2004 East Coast R1 Convention. It was my very first Convention and I didn't know what to expect since I really didn't know anyone in person. Also, I didn't know what to expect from the Gap since we have nothing like it here in Florida, so I was a little uneasy about riding with people I knew nothing about. Especially, on roads like the Dragon. Well, once there I was welcomed by open arms and got to know everyone quite well and by the next day I was riding with a group and learning from them at my own pace. The Gap and the roads around the Gap are some of the best I have ever ridden.
Now, here's the event I'm talking about. Yamaha's very own Chuck Graves came in late in the week and spent the weekend riding with us. A special thanks to the McCoy's for this. Mr. Graves had to be the most down to earth person there is. He did a question and answer session for us on Friday evening just after we ate dinner. He was glad to answer questions ranging from suspension to tires to engine modifications and anything in between. It was so informal with just of bunch of guys doing and talking what they really enjoy. It was like Chuck Graves was one of the guys that night. Well, Saturday morning rolls around and a handful of us decided to tear up the Dragon with Chuck Graves. If you think this guy can't ride you had better think again. I'll be the first to tell you he can ride the wheels off that R1. We made a quick stop at the Crossroads then up the Dragon we started. Well, I was able to keep up with him for maybe the first six turns then it was over for me. I'm saying to myself I'll see you guys at the top LOL... Like I say, it was my first Convention and one I will never forget meeting and riding with all of the new friends I had made. I've never missed another Convention since then. I'm really looking forward to '08.

Anubis 11-16-2007, 07:07 AM My "gravel" thread. Hands down. :fact
Sabian 11-16-2007, 07:09 AM The pic that Kmac always posts of me going into the water....and the sealer then is the story behind it.
My most memorable R1-forum event happened at the 2007 Convention. We left from the lookout at the Gap early one morning and I stayed behind Bogie to video a run just for the hell of it. Several times during the run, especially around corners, my bike was struggling to produce enough gyroscopic and inertial forces to maintain stability, due to the almost entire lack of speed (Should you call it "speed" when you're actually somewhere between parked and coasting?)
The subject matter of the video, who was the cause of this frustratingly inexplicable and mind boggling impedance to achieving any safe level of stabilizing speed, motioned me past him on several occasions. Fearing for my safety, and the impending peer abuse that would be thrust upon me if I were to actually fall over during the "run", which was imminent IMO, I was just about to release the front brake (which I had been dragging continuously for at least 4 miles to keep from inadvertantly overtaking the subject rider) when I noticed a light in my mirror.
As the light bore down on us at what seemed like a supersonic rate of closure I identified it as belonging to a 1973 Honda moped. At first, when I observed the moped rider flailing his arms about I thought he must have just ridden through a swarm of hornets and was writhing in agonizing pain, but it turns out he was just waving at us to either pick up the pace or get the hell out of the way. Although not one to alter my riding due to pressure from the riders around me, I did opt to "push" the pace (can you really call it a pace when your lateral velocity almost matches your forward velocity? who knows) up a little by pressuring the subject rider, all to no avail, and concluded maybe I should just pass him and proceed with video taping at another opportunity.
Impatience finally getting the better part of him, the moped rider started showing me a wheel in several corners. Intrigued by this display of high stakes aggression, I reconsidered my first plan of passing the subject rider and opted for Plan B, which was to hold our pace and bait the moped rider into overtaking us. This would be a great opportunity to get immensely valuable, high definition, wide screen footage of the maneuver, thereby chronicling forever the very first slingshot move of a moped around two mega-horsepower street legal racing weapons. His first couple of attempts were thwarted by oncoming traffic and he then seemed to back off a little. Confused, I looked over my shoulder to survey the situation and was disappointed to witness the mirth with which the moped pilot was displaying for our riding prowess. I'm not sure, but at one point I could have sworn I heard the distinct sound of raucous laughter over the throaty chorus that was intensely resonating from the exhaust as the R1 was in all her glory at a stoic 1200 RPM's. (I don't know about you, but IMO it's quite unbecoming of a 6'2", 120 lb moped rider guffawing wildly inside of his open face helmet while being blessed with the privilege of riding on the country's most scenic and famed cycling byways. Proper riding etiquette dictates you should respect other riders, and their skills, and simply appreciate the fact you're able to enjoy the freedom of the road).
In any case, we navigated the remainder of the "run" without incident, ending uneventfully as we pulled into the CROT and dismounted just in time to reward ourselves with the supper special. BTW, is it considered bad form to jump off of a modern litrebike and help a moped rider rectify a severely loaded up engine and fouled plug? :dunno

Superman 11-18-2007, 07:48 PM For the old school members here.
There was a member on here named nuttballz or something like that.
In 2002, he made a thread about his best friend getting killed in an accident.
The post went something along the these lines:
"They were waiting at a light to make a left turn. The light turned green for them and his buddy on a Honda(?) took off. But nuttballz didn't go as he noticed a sports car(I want to say 3000GT) about to run a red light.
He posted that the sports car was going "98 mph" and struck his buddy who died instantly. After attending to his buddy, he got back on his bike and went after the driver. Which he found 3 miles from the accident. He got off his R1 and 1 punched the driver out."
At first, he received about 2 pages of RIP/condolences before other members started ripping his story apart. Such as, how did he get the speed of the car at 98mph, did he have a radar gun in his pocket, or that a car is pretty much not drivable after hitting a deer at 60mph let alone hitting a 400lb piece of machinery at "98 mph". Then some members found out from a link in his profile and from his other posts that he was only 16 yrs old and didn't even own a R1. Pretty much that thread became a flaming thread and there were a lot of pissed off members on here. There was so much flaming going on that Swedie decided to close and delete the thread.
At that time, I was fairly new to the concept of internet forums, and this post introduced me to what is commonly referred to as a troll. Thats why I remember that thread.
Damn, I wish Swedie didn't delete that thread.
