So who here is in Stl and the surrounding areas? I've got a couple years left in the Navy and I'm probably moving back to South County.

I live over on the East side in Belleville, actually out at Scott AFB. But grew in the STL area. Go on rides all the time over on the MO side of the river down on the alphabet roads. When you get back to the area, take a look at the St. Louis Area Riders forum (www.STLAR.com (http://www.STLAR.com)) good group of guys to ride and do TD's with, the forum is usually pretty quiet during the off-season, but picks up when the riding starts... I see it says you're deployed now, where are you at? I'm out right now myself in Qatar.

Are you from the STL area? I thought you lived in Jacksonville... I'll be in the area (as far as I know) so hit me up when you're on your way and I'm sure the group I ride with would be down for a ride. How long are you going to be in the STL?

I figured you were in NC since you knew Dan and Scott. You'll be getting back to the STL area right when the riding season is starting to get good. Like I said before, hit me up when you get back to the area. If you're still going to the convention, then maybe we can convoy down.

I'll definetly hit you up man. As of right now I'm carpooling with Paytheon. He's driving through Saint Louis and offered to load my bike in his trailer and ride with so I think I'm gonna go that route.

If you want to split a cabin though I am looking for people. I need to lock on lodging still.

I really want to go the convention too. I'll be fresh of deployment sooo if I take leave Annie wants me to go to her parents cuz I haven't been there in a while. Plus she is afraid of the cost of the convention. On a good note she rides and would like to go too. I'll just have to wait and see.

That's cool, when are ya'll heading down? I live over on the East side of the river at Scott, so ya'll will more than likely come right past me headin down 64. I usually split a cabin up on Shuckstack with Scott and gang.

You should try to talk her into going.:fact It's always a GREAT time with GREAT people! I took the wife a couple of years back and she had a good time and she doesn't ride. There's plenty to do, you don't have to be on the bike all the time to have fun in that area!

I hear ya. Every year I've got to plan a couple of trips to see the family, but luckily for me most of our family is in NE TN, VA and NC... prime ridin! The convention can be a little pricey if you're in a cabin solo, but there are hotel rooms that aren't as expensive (if I remember right) and not far from all the Shuckstack action. There are usually a few that opt to stay there... something else to consider. Actually, the biggest expense is fuel to and from the convention and while you're down there...

Mascoutah is what you're thinkin of... but no, I live out on the base itself. If I moved back off base I would probably go back to Belleville or O'fallon (IL). I'm plannin on being there the whole week too and will probably leave EARLY morning on the 15th (Sun.) to get there by late afternoon. I'll be sure to let you know if I hear of any openings in any of the cabins.

Good to finally see a few other STL riders on the forum... Are you doing Gateway or heading to Heartland Park in June with MCRA? I'm hoping to do both. But I'm also heading to the Gap for the convention, that'll put me heading back here the day before the TD in Topeka... I'm not sure I want to make the drive half way across the US.

Take a look at doing the Gateway TD in May. For your first TD it's a great place to start. Not too small and not real crowded in the Novice class, plus it's close to home so not a lot of traveling involved.

Like Badfish was saying, you should hook up with the STLAR (http://www.stlar.com (http://www.stlar.com/)) that's the group I do most of my street riding with and I know that there are a couple of guys that are going to make the drive to Heartland Park and they've got trailer space, or if I make it back here and decide to go, I'll drop one of my bikes off at the house and you could share a ride with me.

:thumbup that's awesome... Ed (f4iguy) is a good guy, all the guys are. You should look to come on a ride with us sometime or come to one of our meetings (there's one this Thursday at Culpeppers on the Rock Rd). Getting over to the usual starting point is a ride in itself. We usually start over at the Shell/McDonald's at 40/94 and with all the construction on 40 we've got to go around on 270 from the East side or weave your way around on the detour.

What kind of riding do ya'll normally do? We usually take off on Sundays about 9-10 and go for 300-400 mile rides over on the MO backroads. Usually makes for a fun twisty day, except for the ride over and back.

it depends i am usually up for anything. i ride in the city just f'n around or go on some backroads. when i ride backroads though i like to go my own pace. i tend to ride how am dressed as well. i just got a full leather suit for the track so i cant wait to try that baby out. my thing with riding the backroads is that i like to go with guys that ride around the same speed that i do. i have been on a few rides that i felt like i was holding the group up. some of the guys around here can really ride.

i usually dont ride an long rides on sundays. i work sunday nights. i leave the long riding for saturdays and during the day during the week while everyone else is at work :D

but i am usually always game for riding espically if i can learn something new.

When I go on the long rides I'm usually leathered up, but when I'm just headin out on a quick around town ride, I'll still gear up, but not my leathers. When we do go out on the long rides, we encourage everyone to ride at their own pace. There's always a tail gunner and whenever we change roads, we'll pull off to the side and wait for everyone. Where do you work? I'm out at the base and miss out on quite a few rides since I'm a shift worker.

thats the plan right now. my bike is at WFO right now getting some transmission work done on it. 2nd gear was ****ed. the guy i bought it from drag raced it alot so the transmission needed some work. but saying i get it back time to go do some riding and it doesnt run me to much to fix it the plan is to be the beginner group in may. it will be my first track day. if not i will be out there just not riding.

I would really like to get on a track someday. However, I do not have appropriate pants or boots. Also, the tires on my bike a pretty hard compound touring tires... Maybe next year. Its a damn shame to cause that would be an awesome birthday present to myself since my birthday is the 13th of May! Perhaps I'll come down anyhow just to watch and to meet some fellow R1-Forum members.

I'm not sure if I've got to work that Sunday or not yet, but that would be a B-day present to me too, mine is on the 8th. Like you said, even if you don't come down to ride the track, come down and at least check out the TD.

well there is a guy i have rode with before that rides down from Springfield, il almost every weekend to go ride the backroads in MO. the guy is a champ.

just check out the boards for rides always a few rides going all over the place every weekend.

I don't know if you heard or not but Dan (Throttle Demon) had a pretty big get off this past Sunday out on Hwy Y. The 10R is done and Dan got pretty banged up, dislocated his shoulder, bruised or broke a couple of ribs and his sternum. Hope he heals up soon.

wow that sucks. glad to hear it wasn't anything more than a few broken bones. but even then that sucks. i was on that ride last year that lask went down and two other guys. scary stuff when someone wrecks. hope heals up soon and get back out there.

I'll probably come down there at some point during the day... I thought about running it, but they're calling for rain on Sunday so I thought I'd pass on this one. Still not sure if I'll ride down or take the truck.
