wint142000 12-17-2007, 09:23 AM I just started track days this year on an 04 R6, and did 4 days at Grattan in MI. I have been running Sportec M3 (came on the bike), and want to jump to a better tire. I still ride my 600 on the road at times (probably 1000 miles this year between me and letting friends ride it) in addition to a couple thousand on my R1
What tire would you guys recommend for my r6 that I could use for both purposes? (I have thought about the 2 CT or corsa III.)
Thanks
Skeeter 12-17-2007, 11:04 AM Bridgestone BT-002RS
2CT's
Corsa III
These are all "Hyper" street tires which do good on the track and street. Of course, they are not as sticky as true track rubber.
Trist 12-17-2007, 10:36 PM I've only done 3 (real) track days, the first 2 I used pilot powers and the last one I used BT002's and I 'll tell you this, the softer bridgies are awesome! some much more grip and heat up quicker. I mean the pilots were fine but if you want to go that bit harder and can afford a new set can something stickier.
racindego 12-18-2007, 09:01 AM Diablo Corsa III's. End of story.
Jourdan_D 12-18-2007, 09:07 AM Diablo supercorsas f'ing rock on the track and get decent weart on the street.
YAMAHA R1 12-18-2007, 09:50 AM Corsa III's. :)
wint142000 12-19-2007, 08:51 AM What is the dif between the supercorsa and corsa III? (Besides the three zone compound)

Diablo Supercorsa/Supercorsa Pro are DOT race tires and are available in different compounds.
Corsa III is dual compound, 3 zone tire. Does not come in different compounds. Sides are similar to Soft/Medium Supercorsa center is like Pirelli "Diablo" This is best example I can think of. :)
differenciate the 2 race tires first.
dragon supercorsa /pro are the race tires that were used since a couple of years, bizarre thread
diablo supercorsa DOT tires are race tires that were recently created (maybe not that recent)
and yeah corsa III is a street tire (also good for track.. but they arent track tires, know what i mean?)

Supercorsa has been around for many years and Supercorsa Pro is still widely available and are both DOT race tires.
Diablo Supercorsa was created in 2007 and is DOT race tire but not widely available as the previous.
And yes the Corsa III's are a track & street tire. The tire is currently being raced on in many Supersport & Superstock type classes. :)
ciaka 12-20-2007, 11:34 PM I find Pirellis to be softer and easier to wear. If you ride on the street a fair bit, I would go with some Michelin 2CT. On the track though, the Pirellis rock arse solid. I switched to them from Michelins and love em to death.
Skipper08 12-21-2007, 12:19 AM i love my dunlop 209GP NTEC nothing better than that in the track. :fact

i've heard super corsa III
but i have heard really good things about the BT002's i might try them out.
stanmart 12-27-2007, 12:35 PM I think im switching to race rubber soon.
Im curious about the pirelli's. I might try a set. Michelin 2ct has been a good tire. No issues. But I want stickier.
Whats the race tire to get?
Captain Squid 12-27-2007, 12:43 PM I use Dunlop 209's and LOVE them. It's all up to you. Lot's of folks like the new pirelli......will I switch? No. it's all in what you like. Try a set of each if ya can and see what works best for YOU
Power Race by Mich,
they even wore better on the road than the Super Cors IIIs did.

I really like the 2ct for street riding, on trackdays I use the Power Races. I run the 190/55 in both tires. If you like the Michelins you will like the PR's they have alot more grip than the 2ct's. I ran my first trackday on the 2ct and since then I have been running the PR's with warmers.
