And the story: When I went to buy this bike, it was the only 03 LE within almost a 1000 miles (not Jokoing). I had to hassle with this dude on the phone to finally agree on a price. When I went down to meet him and his wife, I got there and the wife comes up to me and introduced herself. Her "husband" came up to me and was like Heyuhh I'm not really her husban he's in Iraq:no Fist thing I said was "Does he know your're selling it:dunno She said yes so I bought it. Hope homey knew she was selling it! :lol

boy having that stealth pipe really made a big difference in appearance. The black scheme is actually perfect for this model R1. I use to have the 2002 Silver and although the silver was nice.. this black really holds up a unique feel. I'll tell you what, this design just like the 04 are aging very gracefully and are just stunning to look at. The little things you do to a bike makes a world of a difference.

MAGEE 02-19-2008, 04:21 PM Does anyone have a link to these stealth exhausts?? I currently have a D&D can and would like to change. How loud would it be compared to the pipe that I have now? I have had exup valve issues so I have wired it open, thus making the D&D even louder! Thanks in advance.

If you care about performance in your bike then dont waste your time, if not go for it. I just switched mine over about 3 weeks ago because I loved the look, and it did look great and sounded killer too. The only problem was I lost a ton of power in all ranges and I could get past that! Put the ol Akra back on.
Devil1 02-20-2008, 03:50 AM Not completely true.
Dyno results pulled from the MCM (http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100536) thread.
My stock are 139.09 and with a k&n filter / V stacks / Ackra slip on I'm getting 143.38.
With the MCM / Filter / Stacks I'm getting 145.27
All figure are taken from 11K rpm.
All dyno are run on the same machine as but on a different day for the MCM dyno. Stock and Ackra dyno are run on the same day.
Thanks
Michael
MAGEE 02-20-2008, 04:08 PM It sounds like not even mapping it will make the power up! I will just keep saving for the full system(hard to find good used ones)

R1eeS4e 02-21-2008, 08:53 PM is the gap even worth it anymore? I saw a vid on u-tube, there was about 17 cops on the way down and they're giving tickets just for streching your legs.
I saw another vid of all of the trucks that cross over lanes in blind corners. yikes.
Devil1 02-21-2008, 11:39 PM Yes I am sure it's still worth it.

Oh you know a little of this a little of that. Keri moved in, and we got the house all situated. I'm still working on living with a nurse... the hours SUCK. dtatum6 05-16-2008, 01:13 AM So what's the consensus on the exhaust? It looks sweet but do you loose much HP? I have a blue 03 and would love to do a short. I cut my stock pipe in half because i don't like the long pipes on the side. I have never checked to see how much mine puts out after i cut it.

dtatum6 05-16-2008, 02:38 AM Thanks man. I am reading the thread on the Stealth Pipe right now. So you guys have basically figured out how to create a MCM pipe from scratch a whole lot cheaper? Yep that's it. Bronchound made mine, but it's stupid easy to make.
dtatum6 05-16-2008, 04:42 AM Yo Devil where did you get the footpeg to replace the stock one that held the pipe as well?

@ 3 hp gain from stock, slight loss from my Yosh pipe. The MCM is a nice add on. I bought mine pre owned, but I wouldnt have a problem spending the money on one new, with MCM, I think its cool that a small hands on vendor exist, and its not bad product, regardless of whether it can be copied or not.

Like DD said I'm sure it's not a bad product and he can attest as he has one. My only thing is that I'm just not a chrome person. So the stealth was more my speed.
dtatum6 05-16-2008, 04:38 PM Yeah i agree i like the black as well. Its to bad they dont make one in black. I think i might get one though unless you feel like making me a black one :-).
Dave
dtatum6 05-16-2008, 04:39 PM How did you modify the footpeg? Did you repaint it?
JayIV 05-16-2008, 06:24 PM So, I just picked up my 03' LE about a week ago. I had no idea I was buying such an exclusive bike. I LOVE it though. Looks so amazing!
Anyway, forgive my ignorance but what is the purpose of the baffle? The previous owner removed his Yosh exhaust, and the bike now only has it's headers and mid pipe. He and I both prefer the sound this way. I'm wondering if the baffle provides some sort of back pressure, whatever little it may be, or if it's just there to reduce sound?
I'm bout to head to Walmart and then to autozone to pick up some supplys. I'm gonna get a 45* down pipe, and some high temp matte black paint to paint it up.
Devil1 05-16-2008, 07:56 PM Yeah the baffle creates backpressure and muffles the sound...slightly lol
JayIV 05-16-2008, 07:58 PM Well, it's been without a baffle/muffler for this long, might as well leave it out anyway.
JayIV 05-16-2008, 08:03 PM Hmm, Well, I went up to Autozone and got a couple of tips. I believe the mid pipe on the 03' R1 is 2 1/2'' OD, the biggest turn down I could find was 2 1/4'' ID. But, a 2'' ID turn down fits perfectly inside of the stock mid pipe. I wonder if this would suffice, creating just enough back pressure, less the baffle...?
I'm gonna run back to Autozone and return all but the 2'' ID pipe. Then I'll try and find a 2 1/2'' ID pipe at the same time.
xdonniedarkox 05-16-2008, 10:04 PM Like DD said I'm sure it's not a bad product and he can attest as he has one. My only thing is that I'm just not a chrome person. So the stealth was more my speed.
I'm pulling mine and getting refinished, as a matter of fact...

ROQIT 06-22-2008, 12:49 PM SWEET!....yes the le's rule, but i am biased!...i was using just an open turn down with no baffles,it seems to me the exup provides all the back pressure anyway, right? My friends that i ride with were not amused by how loud it gets but i liked it!Concern about cops made me switch back to the akro, but i cut it down to 1/3 its original length so its not too invasive...:crash

KJLegend 06-23-2008, 07:07 PM I like the wheels! What did you have to put along with the exhaust setup for back pressure??? I put just a straight pipe tip on my bike for a couple days till it fell off, but I've heard its bad for the valves, and I've also heard its fine....HMMM...
