William YZF-R1 01-20-2008, 03:41 PM Year: 1998
Model: YZF-R1
Engine size: 998cc
Exhaust: Yoshimura SS RS3 Slip On
Seat: Stock
Wheels: Stock
Accessories:
Cox Racing Rad Guard
Ohlins Damper & Harris Fitting Kit
Goodridge SS Brake Lines
Fabbri Double Bubble Screen
2003 OEM R1 Rear Shock
Factory Pro 59mm Velocity Stacks
Harris Rearsets
Harris Exhaust Hanger
K-Tech Fork Springs & 25mm Cartridges
Decided I wanted an original R1 totally stock four years ago. I am ever mindful of straying too far from the "stock" look. For instance I chose Harris Rearsets over Gilles as they seemed more "appropriate" for the year. If I get a second bike I will put it back to 100% standard.
It has 13,500 miles on the clock, 11,000 of those since I became the owner.

EDIT Geelong Carbon Craft Tank Pad ordered and paid for, just awaiting delivery.

Thanks for the compliment, To date I have ridden it approx 11,000 miles which equates to an average of 3,000 miles per annum.
maxbg 02-03-2008, 03:46 AM Amazing!
All bolts are still in pristine condition.
merlino 02-03-2008, 03:52 AM This bike should be in the museum.
I'll admire it everyday.
I think professional photography helps a lot too, great work! Did BIKE mag perform all the photo work?

Thank you, Yes BIKE Magazine supplied the photos, which were all taken indoors in a studio.

marcaztls 02-08-2008, 02:51 AM This has got to be the best example of the most iconic bike for me. I'll never forget seeing the pre-release pictures of one, spotting one in the metal and my first ride on one...

clos02 08-25-2008, 09:55 AM So fresh and so clean
James D G 10-17-2008, 02:17 PM I've always loved this exact bike as it was my first R1. I painted my race bike as a tribute to my original 98, I used red candy over silver base for the paint. (I know candies are a little over the top for a race bike but I own my own bodyshop, gotta represent you know.)
I figure this guy with the 02 03 liked the paint scheme aswell, lol.
StwrX03 10-17-2008, 03:50 PM Looks good :thumbup
marcaztls 10-18-2008, 01:30 AM Oooooooooo I like that 02-03 in those colours
