GPD270 01-24-2008, 09:22 AM Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Goobr 01-24-2008, 02:31 PM Very good sir! :fact !
Leader 01-24-2008, 02:48 PM Ok, noob question here, but what is the Sushi run (assuming a ride to a japanese restaurant) and the motocross ride? Do you guys rent motocross bikes or is it for people that bring their own?

Yeah, you pretty much nailed it. The sushi run, Bogie and I started last year. Leave out on a relaxed run up to Knoxville and gorge at a Japanese steak house. Relaxed ride back stopping for lots of photo ops. The moto-x ride, those crazy wankers bring their own if I'm not mistaken.
Where in Central Floriduh are you? I'm in Lakeland.
Gawarrior 01-24-2008, 05:16 PM yeah, mx is for anyone that wants to bring their dirtbike. htere are also some ORV trails close by to ride too.

Randy, I was looking at Fontana's site today and it looks like they may put together ww rafting now. As kirk says, don't think James is showing up in these parts.
You might as well forget that.
Chad, where's the ORV trails?
There is Upper Tellico ORV over near the Cherohala and also Ron Taylor ORV near Franklin.

Sounds like they've got a lot in common, cause he's not afraid of anything (well, except strangers) other than that, it's hard keepin up with him.

Gawarrior 01-27-2008, 08:37 AM Someone want to head up the white water rafting trip? I am quite certain southern won't be doing it this year.
Also, looks like Fontana has something on their site about WW rafting trips so whoever does this may can work though Fontana on it. That would make it a lot easier!
Skeeter 01-27-2008, 08:52 AM Randy, I was looking at Fontana's site today and it looks like they may put together ww rafting now. As kirk says, don't think James is showing up in these parts.
I know. I was just trying to call him out hoping he would get his personal issues worked out with a tax refund check and still join us for the Convention like he always has. Hoping he might chime in. :)
Wow, pretty cool if Fontana is doing the whitewater thing now. I did it in '05 and got banged and bloody up pretty good. Of course our guide was just like aTommy Chong stoner and gave us what we asked for. It was fun.
Devil1 01-29-2008, 03:02 PM Yeah I haven't seen Southern on in quite a while.
Peg Grinder 01-29-2008, 04:00 PM Five of us went last year, had a good time but the water was cold as hell. I think I'll skip it this year as riding the Gap is a lot faster and more exciting.
Count me in for the Sushi Run though, that was some good eatin'.
count me in for the sushi run also:hammer:

I agree... rafting is fun, but it sucks losing a day that you could be out riding.
Also, the water isn't that cold... it's actually pretty warm. Try swimming in the Great Lakes. I live on the coast of Lake Huron and you're lucky if the water breaks 60 degrees in the summer... even that's not TOO cold. :lol A bunch of guys just did a polar bear swim... they have to dodge ice burgs when they're in the water.

Maybe warm for you but my ex-g/f turned blue, definitely skip it for more riding this year.

I need to get some gear. I hope there's water in the lake.
What gear do you need?
GPD270 02-05-2008, 10:50 PM What gear do you need?
Just about everything.
streetjester 02-06-2008, 07:42 AM Is this sumpin' that could be done by someone who isn't a licensed diver?
In this case yes goobr. There will be a few master divers and we can take one person that is not licensed per master diver. That is up to each master however.
streetjester 02-06-2008, 07:45 AM Ok let's start a list of people that would like to do this. This list is not a set in stone list. It is more for seeing what we are dealing with.
1. streetjester (all gear) (full set of spare)
Just about everything.
I've got an extra wetsuit, boots, gloves, mask and I could probably put another set of regulators together if I locate a spare SPG, but only one BCD. You can use what I've got, and I'll work with Goobr if he's interested.
Hey Streetjester: Are you proposing a day or night dive?
Gawarrior 02-06-2008, 09:34 AM I tell you this is some interesting stuff.
streetjester 02-06-2008, 10:55 AM With the fact that none of us have got wet together and maybe some new guys. Day is the best bet. Plus night dives are a advance thing not as fun for the new people.
You thinking about doing it Chad.
Leader 02-06-2008, 10:57 AM :bsI can handle 75f :fact :lol
Growing up in Miami, I used to never handle anything under 80 degrees, but now that I an living further upstate, I can handle 72 degrees at best (but only when the are no clouds to block the sun). There is a state park with a spring that is 72 degrees year round, that is the coldest I can go for any length of time.
Gawarrior 02-06-2008, 10:59 AM maybe...
streetjester 02-06-2008, 11:01 AM well If you do then I got you covered.
Don't worry for the new to water guys we will do a hands on thing in the pool before we get really wet. It is worth trying once.
Leader 02-06-2008, 11:08 AM Ok let's start a list of people that would like to do this. This list is not a set in stone list. It is more for seeing what we are dealing with.
1. streetjester (all gear) (full set of spare)
I am interested - no scuba experience or gear (unless you count a t-back as gear). I am a master snorkler though :flex:
Gawarrior 02-06-2008, 11:08 AM cool. It is something I have always wanted to do..
GPD270 02-06-2008, 12:28 PM maybe...
Its fun!
LE351 02-06-2008, 12:49 PM This looks like fun...but I would definitelly drown!:fact
Paytheon 02-06-2008, 01:08 PM Scuba diving is an excellent event idea.
streetjester 02-06-2008, 02:11 PM Well I am happy to see it is catching peoples eyes.
Just remember that we need a few people that have done it for a while to do this event. Other wise I won't have anyone to pair up the fresh fish with.
But as scott said this is a must try thing. Great fun.

Maybe you should start a thread, and do the list their with applicable certs. This way we'll be able to pair folks up. I know you, Scott and I are certified, but I'm not sure who else.

Dan,,,, I'll sit on the fence with this one just because if there aren't enough Master Divers, I don't want to hold you guys up from having fun. If it works out, that's cool, if not, I'll just go riding. :)

torrents look like this:

Good to hear! I'm sure the girls ride at the Convention will have a following. There is you, Killer Curves and LadyBandit12S that I know of so far. You should start a thread and see what kind of interest you get. I am not sure how many lady riders are attending so far.

i really think it would be to late to head up a a whitewater trip. i have always had to book that about a month and half. it has always been a blast every year the only problem is over the years people say they are coming and dont and who ever puts the deposit on the card they get stuck with the bill
