R6 Matt 02-10-2008, 02:15 PM Well, I think I'm gonna ride down to the GAP again this year... just like the first year. Here is my proposed route. I'm gonna leave early Friday and try and do about 400 miles a day. That'll put me there on Sunday afternoon along with everyone else. If I'm coming through your area and you wanna join the caravan (just me so far) feel free to post up. Also, if you live around an area I'm going near, and think a different route would be worth it (more twisties, etc), post it up.
As it stands it's about 1750km's (about 1100 miles)

GPD270 02-10-2008, 02:33 PM You the man Matt!!!
Skeeter 02-10-2008, 05:15 PM You're going to be worn out and sleep for the next two days after you arrive. Why don't you just split the cost and ride down with Kevin and Tony again? Riding back will be even worse off. But, you've done it before. So, you know what to do. You can always have Wheeler's put on a fresh set of rubber when you get to Fontana.
ez10z 02-10-2008, 05:16 PM Yah, our crew are trying to orchestrate a trip down also...problem is, where're leaving from Allentown area in PA...
streetjester 02-10-2008, 05:24 PM Hey matt there seems to be a faster route. Unless there was a reason to go that way.

It looks like the route he's plotted keeps him off of the super slab interstates.
Devil1 02-10-2008, 09:55 PM Wow Matt that's badass. But you would be worn out by the time you got there.

I would take the back roads to.
312R1 02-11-2008, 01:55 AM Hey Matt,
If you come that direction your more then welcome to ride down with me..I should have my inclosed trailer by then. I'm not far from Altoona,Pa..Just a thought or your could ride back to Pa with me so you wouldn't have to ride the hole way back.

R6 Matt 02-11-2008, 09:38 AM I'll slab it on the way back... I-75 all the way. Takes 10 hours and is pretty much a straight shot home. I chose this route for the twisty roads and the adventure. Should be a good time. The last time I did this still stands out as one of the best trips of my biking career. 400 miles a day shouldn't be too hard... I figure about 5 or 6 hours of riding, which is nothing really.
As for tires, I'll be ok... just installed a set of Pirelli Strada's. I like them A LOT more than the PP's I had on before, not to mention these are sport-touring tires, so they should be good for the mileage.
Should be a good 3 day warm up for the GAP :lol

Sounds like you have a fun trip planned out Matt.
R6 Matt 02-11-2008, 11:38 AM If anything, I'll win the award for "most state lines crossed" :lol
Peg Grinder 02-12-2008, 07:00 AM If you guys from Allentown get it together and need gear hauled down, I'm only about 40 minutes from there. Could drop off the gear before the trip.

Para-327th 03-08-2008, 10:00 PM I did Denver, CO to Rhinelander, WI on a 2000 Kawasaki 500 "Ninja" about 5 years ago, 2 days each way and I have to tell you, I couldn't even bring myself to ride 10 miles with my dad during the week of rest while I was in Rhinelander, totally spent from that much time in a 500 saddle. I actually parked the bike for the remainder of the summer. Of course I was pushing 37 years then, and it still cleaned my clock.
Good on ya Matt, I am way too old and out of shape to have that stamina.
kynetguy 04-04-2008, 07:23 AM I am coming from Frankfort KY if anyone is interested. Not sure how I will journey down. I am starting west of I75. 75 is as far east as I will likely go. As from there, it's anyone's guess how I will go.
I will likely slab it back too Matt, so we can head back together.
