Amsoil Dealer Group 02-15-2008, 11:41 AM Your AMSOIL Factory Connection Dealer Group is your newest forum sponsor. Most of you are already familiar with our product line, especially our motorcycle products, and may already be using them in your bikes and other vehicles. The participating AMSOIL dealers making up this group are offering special discounts for forum members so if you decide to use AMSOIL products check with them before purchasing locally or on line as our prices are the same no matter where you live in the USA or Canada. We plan to occasionally contribute some generic technical information concerning lubricants and filtration when asked and hope to have a long-term forum relationship.
fiveoh 02-15-2008, 01:32 PM Welcome. I use Amsoil in all my bikes (10w40) and my truck (0w20). Just last weekend I tried the new high performance DOT4 brake fluid at my season opener race in Miami with very good results.
AnonymousR1 02-15-2008, 02:23 PM Hey Lars, is this the brake fluid you are referring to?
https://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/bf4.aspx
fiveoh 02-15-2008, 02:41 PM Yup, that's the stuff. Held up to the heat and comes clear which I like too. Some fluids come amber so you can't tell new from old...
AnonymousR1 02-15-2008, 02:42 PM I'm eager to try something besides Motul..
fiveoh 02-15-2008, 03:06 PM I do not like Motul at all.
AnonymousR1 02-15-2008, 03:16 PM Yah, and this seems like a better option than the uber expensive Castrol SRF snake oil :crash..

SRF... snake oil? How can the best fluid, EVER; be refered to as snakeoil. As for the cost of SRF, one bottle will do 2 or 3 bikes depending on how much you flush it's system. So for the 75.00 a bottle costs its a fairly cheap mod and considering the effect good brake fluid has on a system over just brake fluid, I would say it's well worth it. Pretty cheap performance gaining mod for 75.00.

Obviously, I was joking...

Then you tell me what the SRF does compared to "just brake fluid" for $69 more a bottle...
bender 02-15-2008, 03:35 PM Ooops, I've had too much stress today and needed to bust somebodies balls.:butt

It won't boil as quickly with a wet boiling point of 518f and a dry of 590f. I know you've stated you had problems with brake fade, were you changing your fluid after every race?

Yup.
With only a 10* difference in dry boiling point between the SRF and Amsoil's, I can't see the advantage for race use. The fluid should stay so fresh that you don't even start to explore the wet boiling point.
bender 02-15-2008, 04:02 PM The Motul RBF 600 has a high dry boiling point too, why didn't you like it if you were changing fluid every race? Could it be possible that your container was contaminated with moisture and you though you were putting in good fluid?

Nope, I used at lease 3 separate containers of brand new Motul. The only conclusion I can make is that there is more to it than a claimed dry boiling point. Maybe the additive package they use contributes to a varied lever feel. Like I also said, I hate that it comes brown...
Oil Doc 02-15-2008, 08:41 PM There is no difference between the Castrol and the AMSOIL except price.

Except a 108f temperature difference in wet boiling points. Is the AMSOIL silicon ester based?

No it is not silcone based. Check this link out http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/bf4.aspx
