Its a 2002 R1 motor in a Banshee. It uses an oversize banshee radiator in stock location, custom headers, K&N's, power commander, 60lb external fuel pump, 60T rear sprocket, +15" swing arm and 25x12x9 14paddle tires http://s112.photobucket.com/albums/n169/JoeDaddy_05/?action=view¤t=MOV02195.flv

Thanks for all the comments. The top speed is about 98mph/6th gear on flat ground. I had to gear it way down to keep the power usable. I didn't think it would be practical to try and do 180mph in the sand on a 480lb bike, so I used a gearing calculator and decided to go with a 60T rear. That puts me ideally around 69mph in 3rd @ 10500rpm. I usually go up comp hill between 61-68mph all day long. It's not always the fastest quad out there but all things considered I'm pretty happy with it. Most 450 quads with bolt on parts only do about 38-42 up the same hill

Sweet ride man. How'd you setup the external fuel pump?

DP315
02-25-2008, 09:14 AM
I'm using a Mallory 60fi pump mounted on the right side of the frame

Was that a direct hookup to the existing fuel lines?

DP315

I cut the ends off the stock line and then took one end to a hose store where they crimped one end into a new line and left the other end open. That way I was able to hook directly up to the fuel rail with one end and the other clamps onto a barbed fitting at the fuel pump.

That was good old comp hill. Those guys on the 500's were pretty cool. One was running nitrous and the other put a cr500 motor in a 250 frame.

Very nice! How hard was it to mount the engine in that frame? It was pretty much the biggest pain ever. The frame was basically cut in half top and bottom. We then added about 10" to the back and 6" to the front.........the stock frame was 17" tall, the R1 motor was 25" alone!!! The new project is a GSXR1000 in a raptor and that is going to be a lot less work.

why not just convert the bike to quad with custom suspension instead of shoehorning an engine?
