Here's my 2001 R1, the last of the carb'd beasts. It's truly the best bike I've ever owned. Over 27,xxx 100% trouble free miles. Each and every one of them made me smile. That's what it's all about anyway, right?

While my mod list is relatively short, it works for me and my riding style and needs. A few highlights of my bike are:

Harris Performance Rearsets, Gregg's Flushmounts, R&G Sliders all around, Heli Bars w/ Pro Grip 719 Grips, Motowizard Sprocket Cover, Galfer SS Lines, and a few other bits here and there.

Good to see you over here, Hoolie.

I hear ya!! I really need an R1 myself. I really like those heli bars. Are they fairly comfortable?

Hoolie,

The Heli bars are great. If I never told you they were there, you'd never know it. You'd most likely just assume that the bike was a very comfortable sportbike. Actually, I feel like the slightly wider bars make it handle even better, due to a bit more leverage.

dion,

Thanks for the compliments. She's a beauty and I don't plan on getting rid of her. I love the monster low/mid range way too much to even think about another bike.

Love the bike, have a twenty oh one myself. my buddy best described the stocker as "just plain sexy!" Sharper lines than a 98, smoother lines than an 02, I'm im total agreement, great bike and a perfect seat of your pants ride. Not 180hp???, tell that to the scenery and the light front wheel, well done!

I also feel the better leverage after having done this mod.

She is a beauty indeed! I went out of my way to find another '01 when my first one was stolen in '02. Something about the rounded lines versus the angled lines that just works so much better.

Where did you get the sprocket cover? I am only coming up with FZ1 covers. Is this the same cover? and just happens to fit?

Nevermind, I found it... geesh 90 smackers...

Not sure what kind of rider you are, but I highly recommend a steering damper. I had to ride for a time with out it after having ridden with one, and I missed it big time!

OH man, very nice bike... I had a red one which has just been retired due to financial reasons... When I am good and ready, I will buy another 2001 (RED).
