Help!! I have been getting oil in my radiator and cannot figure out the problem. I have changed the mechanical seal on the waterpump. The bike runs great, but when it gets hot the radiator gets filled with oil and starts coming out of the radiator overflow. It is an 03 and that is the only problem i have had with it. Please Help!!!!:fork

No it could not be a head gasket cause it would smoke white.....

Do a coolant system pressure test, then do it again without your oil cooler connected (join the coolant hoses together to eliminate the cooler) and see if you've still got leakage. Service hint, if you place shop vac hose near as in not quite touching the open radiator spout and disconnect the cooler lines you'll spill almost no coolant. Get someone to hold the vacuum hose while you do the work. This is especially usefull on cars and industrial equipment holding alot of coolant.

A blown headgasket won't always blow white smoke. A headgasket can go bad and cause two different senario's. It can cause antifreeze to leak into your oil or it can cause oil to leak into your antifreeze.
If you get oil in your antifreeze, it won't smoke at all. However if you get antifreeze in your oil, that will cause the white smoke you are talking about.

Antifreeze in your oil will cause excessive wear on your precision bearings on the crank but will not cause the engine to smoke, coolant needs to enter the combustion chamber for white smoke to appear, generally through the headgasket directly into the chamber.

A little late for Dustpan but maybe will help somebody else. My grandson has a 2002 R1 and just had the same problem (oil in radiator). We finally found the problem. Oil cooler. There was a small hole in the oil cooler allowing the oil to get in the coolant and vice versa. My first guess was the head gasket but it wasn't.

Actually the headgasket could brake from the antifreeze to the cylinder, which would cause the white smoke, or from the oil to the cylinder, which would cause the white blueish smoke, also it could leak from oil/antifreeze to the outside of the block, which could smoke since its touching a hot metal, or the problem would be between antifreeze and oil, which I can't picture how it would smoke at all, the only thing is it would get oil int eh antifreeze or vice-versa...hope it helps good luck

Go to this link and click on cooling system then water pump. Since you have oil in side of your radiator you most likely need to replace either your oil seal (#3) or your water pump seal (#4). Since your replacing your seals you should replace the bearing in there as well (#2). I have had this problem happen to me on one my dirt bikes and I've know other people that have had this problem as well.
