doug0224 05-09-2008, 05:37 PM i've looked through several threads on the forum and it seems like the best tires are the pp 2ct and the pirelli diablo corsa III's. im about to get a new set of one the two. i do alot of street riding on some twisty roads, gonna make a few trips to the gap, and planning a track day soon. so which should i go with??

kangaroo 05-09-2008, 06:24 PM Depends how hard you ride. I'm usually about 2/3 canyon, 1/3 around town. I prefer to sacrifice tire wear over tire grip so I get either michelin pilot race or pirelli supercorsas. But here I get race-takeoffs from sponsored riders so they've only had 6 hot laps on them, pretty much most of the tread is still there. 100 bucks for front and rear. Can't beat that. My suggestion is to experiment and see for yourself which brands you prefer and fell comfortable with.
fiveoh 05-09-2008, 06:35 PM Dunlop Qualifiers are another great SS tire. Not sure on how long they last, but they def stick...

Keep in mind the 2CT's are the only dual compound where both the front and rear are dual compound. On the corsa 3's only the rear is dual compound. I've not ran either one, but I hear great things about both of them. I have ran the Bridgestone BT-002RS. The front is dual compound on these. They are great for hard street riding and even a few track days thrown in. I don't think you can go wrong with any three of these.
doug0224 05-10-2008, 09:45 PM thanks skeeter i might just go for the one that i can get the cheapest.
r1hellman 05-13-2008, 05:30 AM I've just finished reading an article on the new bridgestone BT016. Apparently genuine GP technology with 3 compound rear and dual compound front. Reviewer said it's the best street tyre he's ever tested on the road and the track. Might try them next time but I'm happy with the 2CT for now.

yankin&bankin 05-13-2008, 10:06 AM IMHO, you can't go wrong with any of the top tires from any of the major mfgrs.
doug0224 05-13-2008, 12:50 PM i got some pp 2ct's on the way. im not gonna bash bridgestone, but i will never have a set of bridgestone tires on anything i own. before you ask it's not because of the tire recall several years back. i used to work for them and lets just say i dont like the way they treat their employees!:fork

You are aware there was a major recall last year on the Michelin 2CT's?
AsianInvasian69 05-13-2008, 09:17 PM ^ you beat me to it

The BT-002RS is cheap (~$250.00/set), and has a little more grip than the PP2CT.
However, it won't last as long (I'm getting ~1900 miles out of a rear with aggressive street riding), and has almost no tread on the sides, whereas the PP & PP2CT
are probably the best wet-weather street tires available.
Bottom line, if you're a little more worried about longevity than ultimate grip, and want definite sure-footed wet weather handling, go with the PP or PP2CT.
You'll get a good price from either www.motoxoutlet.com or www.sportbiketrackgear.com

I've not ran them much in the rain; although, I did get caught at Deal's Gap coming back from the Skyway to Fontana in a down pour. They did pretty good, but I didn't even want to push them. I think Yankin summed it up pretty good.

Probably so. :thumbup
doug0224 05-15-2008, 09:33 PM i got my tires in todayand checked the date they were made according to the dot stamp on them, they were made this year. actually they were made a few weeks ago, so everything should be ok.

I looked into all of the above mentioned tires, but I must say the Cont. Sportattacks are by far the best for the price. Just a great all round tire for anything thats thrown out there.
