blems is a term short for blemish. They are tires that are somehow less than perfect and sold at a lower price.

$315 - $170 = $145 in savings

They're not blems. Cycle gear does this sale once a year right before bike week. The whole point is to get people in the store to buy other stuff. Great deal on the tires though.

o i just found out they are W rated tires :( is that like a road tire?
im not sure how they'll handle- does anyone?
I have seen some information on W rated tires, but generally they list it as a 168 mph max tire. The Z rated which are more common are listed most commonly as 149+ mph.
Not sure if that helps, but me personally, I stick with a Z rating. Even the sport touring Dunlop D220's I run are Z rated. And I spin those up somewhat regular.

Hmmmm that's interesting, never thought to check on that actually.:dundun:
Can't see that it would make much difference though would it? I mean not unless you're getting into that max speed area on a regular basis and for a decent length of time...

I don't know for sure. I stick with Z rating even on my sport touring tires. And I can tell a difference between DOT race, street performance, and sport touring tires. I'd have to look into the composition of a W rated tire to know what was different though.
