repsol 15w 50 on first oil change

went to my local bike shop for oil and they were out of 10w 40 so they suggested the repsol 15w 50. im just not sure if i should use this...i live in east tx where its been 90+ days and i have an 08 r1 w 300 miles on the odo...should i wait for 10w 40 to come in and exchange?

Of course thats what they suggested...its what they had. I would run what the manual says to run. If more info is needed...type oil into the search function. Just set the weekend aside to read it.

It really does not matter. The bike is not picky--it'll run on almost any kind of oil. People on this board are running every kind of oil imaginable. WILL it hurt anything to use synthetic at 300 miles? No.

15w50 will be ok, i run 15w50 full snyn yamaha lube that is the only wight they make in full snyn, i like it, in ga our days around 95-100 deg, and that oil keeps my lifters happy. if you run a light wight oil in hot weather, yamaha lifters really make noise

My local shop just told me their supplier(PU) is out of Repsol 10w40 synthetic. They tryed to sell me Yamalube, prob what your dealer was doing.
