Tire Pressure?Fielddoc 05-26-2008, 11:39 AM Hello what tire pressure do you all recommend on the stock 07 rubber in front in rear for street thanks. all.on.black 05-26-2008, 12:21 PM It's on the swing arm and in your owners manual. Front 36 Rear 42. kicky1 05-26-2008, 01:02 PM the manufacturers figures are always on the high side of things and for improved grip and feel most people tend to alter their tyre pressures away from the manufacturer recommended settings.
manufacturers settings are a compromise intended to suit all conditions for all types of rider but no necessarily the optimum for your bike and your style of riding.
i always run 36 psi rear and 32 psi front on the road and then adjust a little higher if i take a pillion.
this seems to work great for most makes of tyre i have tried pilots on R1's, gsxr, and ducati's even worked ok with diablo corsa 3's on my old R1
hope this helps
regards
Dave whatsaR1? 05-26-2008, 04:28 PM I ran 32 front 36 rear as well got michelins. the manual settings are too high IMO. 2WEELFERRUM04 05-26-2008, 05:27 PM i am running Diablo Corsa III front 32 and rear 36 Fielddoc 05-27-2008, 01:23 PM thanks a lot guys Ill try that aaks38 06-11-2008, 10:11 PM Realize that be reducing your tire pressure from stock, wear increases significantly, turn in and lean takes more effort. If you ride mostly on the street and dont corner as much, your probably better off with factory tire pressure. I spend 90% of my riding commuting and 10% on the twisties. Ive been able to get 6k miles out of my 2cts and i still have 4/32s left using stock tire pressure. These tires also have so much grip that i dont find a need to reduce pressure to maximize contact patch, however i weigh 215, so who knows..YMMV blacknzr1 06-12-2008, 12:58 AM yer im quite heavy, 110kgs, so i find 34f/36r seems to work for me. jkrunsthecity 06-12-2008, 07:14 AM I run corsa III's 190/55 and 120/70.. 32/34 Klo1320 06-12-2008, 07:23 AM i've been running 36/38 for a while with great results as far as life and grip on Metzler M3s. bumblebr1 07-09-2008, 05:52 AM I run PP front @ 32psi, and a 2CT rear @ 28psi on the twisties. and about 40/40 around town & interstate. yankin&bankin 07-09-2008, 09:41 AM Rear OEM recommended pressure of 42 psi is for 2-up riding, and will speed the tire wearing out in the middle.
The key of tire pressure is finding a compromise between traction and even wear.
36 front is OK, but you can probably get away with 34.
I'd recommend trying 36 front and 38 rear, adjusting from there according to feel and traction.
John justforfun 12-11-2008, 11:09 PM I'm freadking out right now, i have a tire pressure gauge and it measures in lbs. I have Metzler M3 and is 36f/42r lbs the same as 36f/42r psi? I put some air in and went as high as 30 lbs and man the tire is hard. Thanks yankin&bankin 12-12-2008, 12:48 AM I'm freadking out right now, i have a tire pressure gauge and it measures in lbs. Yes...PSI stands for Pounds per Square Inch.
IMO, 30 lbs. is a little low for street riding, depending on your weight.
Start at around 34 front and rear and adjust from there according to feel and wear.
If ride is rough, try backing your suspension damping settings out a couple of clicks and see how it feels then. justforfun 12-12-2008, 10:22 AM Yes...PSI stands for Pounds per Square Inch.
