2008 Convention Sushi Run

Any interest? DanQ and I are trying to set up the Sushi Run like we did last year on Wednesday during The Convention. We gotta hear from BluAreWon, vroomR6 and CrankShaft as they were the ride bosses. Doug and Bill knew the back roads up to Knoxville and seems like we all met up with Eric who took us to the Japanese Steak House. We need about 10 or 20 folks to make this worthwhile. Hey Bogie,,,, you readin' this? :crash We're gonna miss you Brutha! :fact Here's the schedule from last year,,, sorta loosely put. :lol Kickstands up at 0930 hrs at CROT. Follow BluAreWon and vroomR6 via backroads up into Knoxville where we meet up with Crankshaft. Crankshaft leads us to the sushi place. I think we got there last year right around 1200 hrs. 1.5 hrs or so eatin' sushi or whatever your choice of meal (they have lots more food than sushi/sashimi). Amble back to Fontana via Foot Hills Pkwy and get back around 1630 hrs. YES, I am in for real now! We'll have a fun ride for sure. Nuttin' too fast, not balls out but not boring either. We had the most fun last year on the way back to Fontana. We stopped at the top of The Foothills Parkway where "one of our members" ahem, ahem,, had to take a dump. hey you cant do that to one of our dirt biking guys lol Nah... the MX stuff is starting to sound like a hoot. I'm sure we can manage a half a plan between us. As long as we know the destination we can find it. Then hopefully be back around the CROT before the dirt stuff is done.

Oh yeah... we can find it with Mapquest or Streets and Trips to figure out the most of the hard stuff... then just get lost on all the good roads on the way :crash That and kynetguy knows the roads out there. I have GPS stem mounted on the R1. . . I use the Garmin Software on a Dell Axim PDA with a BT receiver and have a cig adapter for power. It ROCKS. The Garmin Mobile 10 is VERY nice and cheap too. I can plot any course I want on my PC then load it to the PDA. The only draw back is custom routes I have to do on my PC. Otherwise it just navigates shortest distance or fastest time. To get the custom routing features You have to get up in the $500 price range on their stand alone GPS units.

It's a really fun ride once you get there... one lane going down the mountain and 2 lanes coming up. :fact

But if you like the curves and have the stamina to hang, you will not be disapointed. Blood mountain is a fun road, short, but fun. And north of Helen there is another JUST AS GOOD.

All in all, I think they are both around the 250 mile mark. Should be pretty much all day up until dinner. Depends on how many breaks we take and how many times up and down the mountain people wanna go. I have spent as much as 3 hours at Blood Mountain alone. LOL
