Welcome to the forum. Most people pic a dual compound sports tire. Pirelli Corsa, Michelin CT2, or Bridgestones all have good tires.

I'm running a Pilot road 2 in the rear and boy do I love that freaking tire. I have close to 4,000 miles on it and it looks almost brand spanking new

Pilot Powers or Dunlop Qualifiers are good street tires where you can have some fun on them too and still have good grip.

I think im going the "PILOT ROADS 2" route. My pilot powers lasted only 2k miles and my brother got 14k miles out of his pilot roads.

You must be doing burn outs or putting a lot of stress on the rear tire. I've ran them up between 4 and 5K riding pretty hard.

You can try the new BT016, I heard they were a overall great street tire.

well I got them used for a hundred bucks... they looked pretty good when i mounted them, don't get me wrong they're awesome tires but they don't last very long. Besides every weekend I average 500 miles of back roads and twisties, sometimes more depending who I ride with. plus my daily commute to work about 20 miles of highway. And no I dont do burn outs I think its pretty stupid tires are expensive.... This is why I decided to try the Pilot Roads 2

I used dunlops i just went to pilot powers so far so good i like the feel of the pilot powers more comfort IMO just not to sure how much the thread going to last i guess it depends on your riding style.

look get the Pilot Road 2s man!! I'm telling you that you will not be dissappointed.. I have close to 4 thousand miles on the rear tire and it looks like it is brand new. I'm serious its an awesome tire that will last. It plants good in the turns and yet it wears really well on the highway... trust me when I say they are just awesome tires... I would burn through diablos or a metzler m1 in about 4 thousand miles but this tire is just freakin doubling that if not going to triple that... PILOT ROAD 2s!!! PILOT ROAD 2s!!! PILOT ROAD 2s!!! PILOT ROAD 2s!!! lol

I think im going the "PILOT ROADS 2" route. My pilot powers lasted only 2k miles and my brother got 14k miles out of his pilot roads. That sounds about right; depending on the area you're riding in, your weight, and the type of riding you're doing. I've got buddies in Arkansas, where the roads are notorious for being very grippy, but also have a reputation for being very hard on tires. One friend I have over there in Mountain Home goes through rear tires in well under 1000 miles. Now keep in mind he's >300 lbs., and rides a GSX-R1000 and a CBR1000RR. I, on the other hand, am getting about 2500 out of a rear PP (R1, 215 lbs. in gear, combination TN & AR roads). Riding style also plays a big part; I've got a pretty slow throttle hand--I rarely break traction, whereas I know my 300-pounder buddy is sliding into the corners and throttle-steering to modify his line instead of using the brakes.

I also recommend the 2ct, its a great all around street tire and will give you the grip when you need it for the aggressive moments. Unlike many, ive been able to get 6k miles so far out of my tires and i still have about 4/32 left, so i should be able to hit about 10k on them before replacement. My trick is to keep the tires inflated to factory spec of 36/42, however i also do about 90% highway commuting and 10% weekend on the twisty roads.

I've never gotten less than 5 thousand miles out of a rear no matter what brand and that was with a few track days thrown in. I don't know what you guys are doing but a full race compound would get the mileage you guys are talking!

Different riders = Different Riding Styles, Some are more aggressive than other thus leading to shorter tire life. It happens..

I have dunlop qualifiers and I put almost 4k on them and they're pretty much gone, its a great tire for canyon riding but for every day commute Im not sure, Im looking also for a tire that would give me more miles and that can handle the canyons

I just pulled off a set of CT2's.. never gave out once at any speed. never slipped.. awesome tires. Put on a BT016.. (5 compound) and its a beauty too.. same deal.. Dunno about mileage, cause the ct2 was on the bike when I got it.. but I got 1500 on it when it was nearly at the wear-bars.
