2008 Convention Cigar Exchange (CEX) - post if you are participating!

Here ye, here ye. This is the first notice of the sign up list for those that will be participating in the CEX at this year's convention. Two years ago at the 2006 Convention some cigars made their way to the boat party. During last year's Convention a lot of folks got on board and brought some "sticks". At the conclusion of the week, it was decided that for 2008 the Cigar Exchange (CEX) would be created. Membership is very simple. During the week of the Convention, bring at least one cigar for every night you will be at the Gap. Everyone will trade - you will not smoke any of the cigars you bring (unless you really want to of course). The goal is to share in both cigars and fellowship. On the evening of the boat party is when you bring your one "silly" - that is, your top shelf stick that is for special occasions. Other CEX members will do the same. Do not bring any cheap ass twigs - this is for grown-ups! You don't have to go nuts; reserve your one "Michael Jordan" for the boat party; as long as the rest aren't out of a drug store, you'll be ok. I just want to get an idea of how many folks will be participating, so sign up here. Without a doubt, someone will see all of the fun and cry "oh damn, I had no idea!", so bring some extras if it's within your means. Just go to a local smoke shop and pick up some Arturo Fuente's or Cohiba's. Can't go wrong with them.

I'm smoking mine on either fathers day with his family and friends or on the 17th all by myself. Off topic here but I think you guys can appreciate this: I've had a 16oz bottle of Budwiser on the top shelf of my fridge since I heard the news about Glenn. I was gonna drink it on the 17th, but I think it'll keep well there in honor of his memory.:thumbup You guys smoke up the night. Count me in for the exchange for the boat night. Not sure how many I will bring for the week, not a big cigar man actually. I am a closet smoker. We have a local cigar maker that makes pretty decent sticks. I might bring a big ole Belicoso or some other huge one they make.

I bought a nice portable humidor just for the occasion - we need to decide on a time for the CEX to meet, trade, and light up. I'm personally thinking right before or right after dark. How do folks feel about 9pm?

How do folks feel about 9pm? I have a portable hummidor myself. . .a ziplock and a wet paper towel. (lightly damp) :rock You are only going to be gone a week. . .don't need anything fancy smancy! 8-9pm sounds about perfect. Give us time to get back, shower eat dinner take a healthy poo and get the buzz started. Not necessarily in that exact order.

Those are pretty good smokes. I picked up a few from our local manufacturer. They are in the top 5 "up and coming" manufacturers in the world. All hand rolled, very nice roll. I have never smoked any of them, so I make no promises. But they are not cheap cigars. 6-14 bucks each is what they go for. Now, I have had some excellent sticks for less and terrible sticks for more. You now how that goes. Price does not always equal quality.
