I am no tyre expert but IMO the front and the back should be the same make, model. They are designed to work together, for grip, stability, water displacement and the tolerance of lateral forces while braking and cornering.
Unless you plan to fry the rear in one go, stick to one type. Maybe someone else will give their 2 cents.
Get the Pirelli's :fact Diablo or Rosso's
:thumbup me_not_you 07-02-2008, 02:30 PM you might want to check if it is legal too. over here in germany if you get caught with two different tires on your bike they either give you a 200-400 euro ($330-$660) ticket or they impound your bike and give you a ticket depending on how nice they want to be and how much of a jackass you are to them. yankin&bankin 07-02-2008, 04:03 PM you might want to check if it is legal too. over here in germany if you get caught with two different tires on your bike they either give you a 200-400 euro ($330-$660) ticket or they impound your bike and give you a ticket depending on how nice they want to be and how much of a jackass you are to them.
Over here, the cops are too busy worrying about real crime to notice.
And most wouldn't know the difference. Skeeter 07-02-2008, 05:10 PM Over here, the cops are too busy worrying about real crime to notice.

Ain't that the truth. :lol yankin&bankin 07-02-2008, 11:52 PM Ain't that the truth. :lol
Here in Memphis, we ride our dirt bikes on the street all the time to get between trails or to go eat lunch during a ride.
The areas where we ride dirt are so saturated with crime that the cops are too busy to ever even see us.
We don't even register on their radar screens.:) me_not_you 07-04-2008, 12:01 AM there is the difference between europe and the states, the crime rate. the crime rate here is a hell of a lot lower so the polizei can worry about the smaller stuff too instead of just the crime. it isn't so much that they go bike to bike to check, but if you are in an accident and you are running two different tires it is automatically your fault because you are driving an illegal vehicle because of two different tires. even if the other person rn a red light and hit you. i am just suggesting you might want to check to see if there is any consequences to running two different types of tires. there might not where you guys live. I would stick with one kind. IMO I don't know why you would want a harder compound up front, since I would be more worried about the front end tucking. I bought a used bike and it had mismatched, but had a harder rear. Through some corners in town the bike was hard to read, because the front was sticking fine and the rear would start to slide. I'd hate to see it happen in a reverse situation. schambers 07-05-2008, 04:53 AM I was in Heidelberg for 2 years and I can attest that the Polizei don't play. You just never see anyone getting to far out of line there. Unlike the states, kids can run around, ride the train around, and not have to worry about being kidnapped. I owuldn't even think about letting my kids run around here in Memphis like I did growing up.
But on the tire issue. I would want to run the same tires for the some of the same reasons that dieyoung69 stated. Plus I would think different tires are going to heat up differently. You might have a rear heat up faster than the front and then try come out hard on a corner and loose the front.
Go with the Rosso's. I've been running them since April and haven't had any issues so far. Great tire. yankin&bankin 07-07-2008, 10:39 PM there is the difference between europe and the states, the crime rate. the crime rate here is a hell of a lot lower so the polizei can worry about the smaller stuff too instead of just the crime. it isn't so much that they go bike to bike to check, but if you are in an accident and you are running two different tires it is automatically your fault because you are driving an illegal vehicle because of two different tires. even if the other person rn a red light and hit you. i am just suggesting you might want to check to see if there is any consequences to running two different types of tires. there might not where you guys live.
Trust me, they wouldn't know the difference. | |
