http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u71/primo74/KTMScooter001.jpgHere is my new SUMO...2008 KTM 690 SMC. Wow this bike is :rock... I only have 122 miles on the OD ( Still in the break in ) and can tell it will be a hand full. The only problem is that the left turn siginal melted on the ride home from the dealers...Looks like all US 690 Eundro and SMC are having this problem. Crap Design:flush:...Other than that the bike is awsome!!

I am so in love with those bikes!

Those pictures are great!

I'm going to get one eventually; I don't care what the cost is.

Thanks for posting the pictures, and please keep us updated about rides you do on it, as well as mods you do, reliability, rideability, and any maintenance issues.

Thanks,
John

Very nice bike. :rock the whole bike screams quality, not just the breakes. Guess that is why they cost almost as much as an R1. I just got an 06 SM with a full Akrapovic exhaust. On a thumper you have to do the exhaust mod!!! I have a feeling your R1 will get some rest now. Congrats on your new bike.

I replaced the US version tail light with the Euro one....Much better looken in my opinion. I also moved the signals down to avoid the hot exhaust gas from melting them. This bike :rock hard.

11698 for new KTM 505 SX ATV. even XC ATv went up $1500 from 08. and even then 08s had $500 price increase early on last year. first went to show they were like 8900, then oct they went to 9400. 09 model is now just under $11k.

When are y'all getting an RC8?

dont know.. maybe in spring. first 08's went to select dealers.. depended on lc8 engine sales. like 50 dealers with highest bike sales in lc8 category got one. we just got lc8 lineup this past year...actually hasnt been year. mostly we carried dirt stuff, now we have streetbike lineup as well. parts mgr went to show and rode rc8 on track.. hes big guy.. 6'5 300 and said it was awesome. he rides zx14 so he knows power.

They have RC8s here in Europe, the are asking 15,000 which includes a 20 sales tax. I heard they were going to sell them for 18,000 in the states; I hope that is not the case. Yeah, the bike has all of the best parts on it, but it shouldn't cost more that the european version and their 20% tax.

I got to test ride the 690 SMC at the KTM adventure riders rally in West Virginia. Factory sponsored event in which you were allowed to test ride all the street legal KTMs. I enjoyed the SMC even more than the Super Duke.

Pic is not of me, it's a buddy of mine (who happens to own an LC8 and a KTM SM)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v506/eduardobibm/KTM%20Rally%2008/0718081033b-1.jpg

But of all the current street KTMs I want the 690 Enduro the most.

If you were in Banner Elk, I assume you did 181, 80, Little Switzerland, etc.?

Fantastic trout sammich at the quaint little restaurant in Little Switzerland.

181? I thought Road Atlanta was fast until I rode that road.

You can use all the power a modern literbike's got on 181.

100 mph knee down, etc. etc., it'll take all an R1 can throw at it.

But a motard? Hwy. 88's the ticket. Dirty, bumpy, broken pavement - a guy on a literbike trying to keep up with a KTM 690 ridden in anger on this road is going to be wishing he had stayed home that day.

I didn't know the area that well, so I'm not sure if I did those or not...

I tried to find the tightest, twistiest stuff I could find (we have NONE of that here in South Fla).... I had just come from the Fontana area earlier that week (where I did most of my riding)... I was mainly in Banner Elk so the wife and I could do some caving and zip-lining....... :crash

Next time I head up that way, I'll hit you up for sure.... :thumbup
