I have recently switched from Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic 10w-30 to Amsoil 10w-40 synthetic and have felt noticeable changes in my bike. First, my R1 idles much smoother than before. Second, clutchless shifting up and down through all gears went from smooth to hot knife through butter smooth. Finally, on down shifts from higher rpm's to decelerate the bike there is less vibration and a smoother decel. I am definitely hooked on the Amsoil product and would have a hard time switching, plus its red and looks badass in your oil window.
I have also used Mobil1 4t and I prefer the Amsoil product.

Lol @ endorsement check, just wanted to share a positive experience with other guys on the forum.
Although that was the only downside, I paid twice as much for this oil than Mobil1, $64 bucks including shipping and the filter, wonder if I could have gotten it cheaper.

I had a similar experience when I first switched to Amsoil and I never looked back. All my toys get it now: the race bike gets their oil and DOT4 racing brake fluid, the YZ450, the Tundra gets their 0W-20 and synthetic severe gear in the rear diff.
I pay the $20 a year for preferred pricing and substantial savings. If you go through one the dealers that sponsor this site, you could get a decent discount too.
...and what do you mean red? I've been using it for years and it looks like very light honey color.

I just purchased a filter and Amsoil 20-50 from my dealer for 46 bucks. This is my first time using Amsoil and I'm expecting a cooler engine and maybe not as much noise. My R1 has 13.000 miles on it and has never had synthetic oil. If it works like I hope I'm putting it in my Harley too.

First thing I thought of when you said red was ATF. I have the same experience with Amsoil. I really like not having to use the clutch.

I'd run the 10w40 in the R1.
