Got down there Thursday afternoon and left Saturday morning. A great friend by the name of DanQ was kind enough to loan out his Vmax to us while Ella and I were there. :thumbup
We came down to have a surprise visit, meet new friends, say hello to old ones and then checked out the area we are getting married at on saturday. :thumbup Sabian 06-22-2008, 04:22 PM Got down there Thursday afternoon and left Saturday morning. That is still no excuse for the heavy handed law enforcement. I personally was passed in a blind left hander by a TNHP just to catch a TL1000R.... and I do plan on writing the TNHP a letter. Simply pathetic just to write a ticket :fact NSDQ 06-23-2008, 08:48 AM None for me. I stayed off of the Gap for the most part (only 4 runs, well within the speed limit, and one of those was the parade on Saturday). I thought at one point I might tip over going 30 mph. I played on the Skyway and thanks to Kevap stayed within sensible limits and still had fun. I heard folks were getting reckless for kneedragging as well. It's awesome to see friends (old and new) but the Gap is rapidly approaching "busted" status. Route 28, the Skyway, and 143 (I think that's where we went on Friday) are where it's at. The Skyway is federal land. If you get caught speeding up there you're really screwed! Kmac 06-23-2008, 09:24 AM The Skyway is federal land. If you get caught speeding up there you're really screwed!
Not all of it. We all got busted (about 5 of us at once) along with Jeff, but just got regular tickets. We were getting close to the Fed property, though.
They clocked us at like 98 in a 45, but wrote the ticket for simple speeding. (i.e. HUGE BREAK). JPWarrior 06-23-2008, 09:24 AM Is that so? :sing:

Brandon (sykobiker) and I had our trial today and we got off VERY lucky. The officer that pulled us REALLY had it out for us - he showed up for court specifically for our case. For some reason, he had it out for our asses big time. Told our attorney that he was initially going to try to charge is with reckless endangerment - a fvcking FELONY.
However, I had a 100% clean record, Brandon's was good, and our lawyer somehow cut a deal with the DA and the officer before it ever went before the judge.
The verdict:
We have to complete the MSF course (15 hour) and have proof of completion submitted before October 29th... and the case is DISMISSED.
How cool is that? Irishstu 09-17-2008, 07:59 PM UPDATE!!!

Man Skank, ya'll got off pretty easy... How difficult is to get into a MSF course around there? Here they're booked up by the end of March (when that year's schedule comes out) for the entire riding season. Sabian 09-17-2008, 09:08 PM I think I would have laughed in the officers face if he was that out to get you. Skanky 09-17-2008, 09:13 PM Man Skank, ya'll got off pretty easy... They're pretty booked here also, but it's pretty common to have people drop out - I'm already on the waiting list (didn't waste any time getting signed up). I think I have a good chance of getting it scheduled for early October... will know early next week. DanQ 09-18-2008, 05:17 AM UPDATE!!!

Good news for sure Skankster!! :fact Peg Grinder 09-18-2008, 12:46 PM Congrats Skank, guess we're all getting lucky...
I had to pay 240 for the second speeding ticket and send a picture of the bike with the mirrors back on to clear the equipment charge +15 buck court fee (or something like that).
But... because the first speeding ticket I got was written up as a county violation and the court date was after the second ticket... that meant the second ticket was considered the "prior" year and only had to pay 20 bucks instead of the 240...
Don't make sense to me either but I saved 220 :D GPD270 09-18-2008, 01:24 PM Congrats Skank, guess we're all getting lucky...

I still will never plead guilty to this reckless as nothing I had done or seen Skanky do was in any way reckless. At this point to save trips to Tenn this is best solution for us and in long run the best way out of it.
