I have a 2003 YZF R1 that needs a new rear tire ASAP . I think I had a Maxxis Supermaxx M6029 Rear on it. I sometimes tend to travel faster than 149 MPH which is faster than what one site said the pilots are rated at. Is there a tire I can use for all around use that will withstand higher speeds. I live on a gravel road so I have to drive 1 1/2 miles to the highway before I get to town. I like to take backroads at high speed and my supermaxx rear tire worked great for that. I'm not sure what the front tire is. I want to replace both so that they match. this is the first time I've had to replace tires. I have only owned the bike since last fall.

I have the PP 2CT and they're rated to 169 mph as far as I know.

I double checked and the w rating for the michelin pilot power 2 ct is 168 mph and the z rating tires are rated at 180mph.

Let me explain it this way. One of the forum members here works for Maxxis and doesn't rn their motorcycle tires. He gets the tires for free, but still chooses to buy PPs.

I purchased michelin PP 2 ct at www.ridenow.com the best price i could find anywhere. 305 dollars for a front and a rear. I couldn't buy one rear for less than that if i purchased locally. the original maxxis tires were 200/50ZR-17 in the rear and 120/70 ZR-17 in the front. i have ordered the factory standard tire size at 190/55ZR-17. my bike's speedometer seemed to be off and it always seemed squirrly in the rear as well. I hope the PP's will solve a portion of my problems. they'll be a little taller and not as wide but maybe it will help. Thanks for all the support guys. If anybody here rides in nebraska let me know . I am thinking of starting a riders club in name only. No special jackets or anything. just an organized group to ride together and keep in contact. It will most likely be based out of kearney.
