I have a 2003 R1 and just recently put in Amsoil with an Amsoil filter. I have noticed from time to time that my oil light will come on when the engine temperature starts to get hot sometimes it goes out and sometimes it stays on until the bike is shut off. I asked my dealer and he tells me that the amsoil viscocity is different from regular oil and the oil sensors in the yamaha's sometimes dont read it properly. He checked the levels, and teh filter and everything was fine and told me to just ignore the light. Anyone else have this problem? Id hate to pour out oil that has been in my bike less than 3 weeks.....however, i would really hate to replace my motor too!
Did you read the information in the Amsoil section (http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=118)? They are a sponsor on the R1-Forum and regularly check the posts. I think you'll get an accurate answer soon.
I don't believe that your problem is related to a specific oil. And most Yamaha sensors are an oil level sensor, not pressure.
I would check the level carefully while waiting for further answers.

its been recomended to fill the oil to the top of the site glass. The level sensor is very touchy and doing this will generally fix the oil light issue. as said before the oil u r using is a solid brand and u should be fine. Ive been using that Castrol R4 5-40 Full Synthetic. Im in AZ and its dang hot all the time but we dont have the humidity out here that some of the other guys have.
I've been running Amsoil in my R1's for probably 4 years with no ill effects. I'm sure your problem isn't coming from the brand of oil being run.

Pre-2004 R1s and FZ1s have been known for years to have a thirst for oil.
That being said, the oil level sensors are also sensitive, and the warning light can be triggered even when going up a hill, or descending a hill, etc.
The oil level sensor on my 2005 went bad.
