Loosening darn oil drainage plug!!??

Hey, I'm changing oil for the first time tonight and I can't get the damn drain plug open. I don't know if I should be pulling or pushing the wrench and I don't want to strip the bolt. Should I be pulling the handle towards me (if I'm standing on the left side of the bike, facing forward), or pushing it away from me? Thanks! any ideas how to loosen it up first? SHould I heat up the engine?

I tried that trick. So lefty means I should be pulling the wrench handle towards me? Neither way makes the bolt budge.

Ok, figured it out. I had to push it away from me to open it. jeez I'm stupid! thanks!
