I want to take a moment to thank the Staff of Fontana Village Resort for everything they did for us for the 2008 R1/R6 East Coast Convention. Working with Chad (Gawarrior) over the past year organizing lodging accommodations had me in contact with Fontana Village on a weekly basis, and I was always greeted with the greatest of welcome and helpfulness. The entire time we were there, any requests we had were eagerly taken care of by the staff, which was friendly and helpful at all times.

We had our meals delivered on time, and hot. Never running out of food or having to cook and clean up. Which is GREAT after a hard day of riding and photo ops. And the staff fully took care of cleaning up the food area after meals, checking with us to see if we wanted the leftover food.

We partied on Shuckstack and left TONS of trash, which they got rid of for us each day.

We had folks on the campground that were well accommodated.

And we had a great time in all areas we used of the Resort, including the great time we had on the Houseboat. Especially with the courtesy of the gentleman who shuttled us to and from the boat.

I have completed a questionnaire on behalf of the R1/R6 Forum staff that addresses their hospitality of the Forum, but I would like to post a thread and deliver everyone's comments. So, please, take a moment and comment on and thank Fontana Village staff for how we were treated.

I will copy this thread on 1 August and put it on paper for delivery to Fontana. So please take a moment to thank them and make comment on your positive experience.

I have been to the last 3 conventions and they have always been very accomidating to everyones needs. The staff is freindly and helpful. :thumbup

I will be staying with them for a week next month and look foward to it! :fact

While there are always little hiccups that occur in hosting an event as large as ours (our cabin being double booked or cancelled/rebooked - whatever - either way they made things right by putting us up in another cabin for a night free of charge), I think the biggest compliment we can, and will continue, to show is that we will go back there every year (some more than once) and spend our hard earned dollars with them because of the overall quality of their facility, service and people.

For real though, this was my first time down and I was very happy with Fontana. Although I did not make it to all the available entertainment like the lazy river, mini-golf, Frisbee-golf, and all the other cool things I was very happy with the resort. Everyone was very nice and always willing to help out!

Second year in the Campground and the facilities are always clean and in working order ('cept the phone :lol ).

The meals were really good this year, hot, on time and delicious!

This was my fifth year going to Fontana. The facilities have always been great each year; however, this year was the worst when it came to our accommodations. Simply put, we were all lied to by management at the front desk. Later the first day everyone in our cabin went to confront the issue with them. We were told one thing, then at checkout time one week later Fontana went back on their word. If they make a decision they need to stick with it and not lie to people.

Second year for me and I had a great time. Food was reliable, cabins were clean, and if there was anything needed, it was taken care of. I know there was a few mix ups with the cabins, but everything was eventually sorted out and I was taken care of for my troubles.

I'll see you guys next year!

Internet and phones would be awesome too!!!

This was my first year and it ROCKED.....the room was great, clean, and always fresh towels....great to end up after a long day of photo taking and co-piloting.....Heavenly

This was my third year at Fontana (first = lodge, 2 years in cabin).

This year, we arrived at the cabin to find that it was recently renovated with new carpet, some new furniture, and the kitchen was properly rearranged. They were very good about leaving clean towels during the day also.

This was my first year at Fontana with the R1/R6 Forum. My wife and I were very please with the cabin we stayed in, and the service the staff at Fontana provided. Both my wife and I will definately be reserving a cabin at Fontana again for the 09 convention. Thanks Fontana for the spectacular service.

We had some problems in the lodge. We were awakened by the plumber at 1am one night who was cutting through some PVC. It sounded like something was going to explode. Vaughn went on a rampage - sorry but it was unnacceptable. We also had some problems with the communication on housekeeping expectations. It may be worth trying a cabin next time....The Manager always tried to accommodate for the inconvenience. Thanks to hiim for trying to make it up to us! I do not recommend the lodge.

Food on shuckstack was pretty good. Always on time and plenty for everyone!

THANK YOU FONTANA!!! The forum members always have such a great time at the convention, and a huge part of that is due to being able to stay on Shuckstack Road, enjoy great meals together at the end of a long day of riding, and also, for the families and kids who come along to enjoy all the amenities of the village. Many thanks for everything Fontana's staff has done to make for great experiences in the past and hopefully in years to come.

My 5th year going and have not had a problem yet....great job!

My 5th year, first year was in a lodge room and this was my 4th year renting 1719 on Shuckstack Road. This is the first time I have ever had an issue. As a couple people have already said we got booted out of 1719 for the first night and had to stay in another cabin for one night, which was ok because it was comped for the inconveinence. Overall... I've had great experiences with everyone at Fontana Village and will be going back again and again.

my 4th year and other than the sunday night screw up it was good. I would like something else to drink other than tea every night and the light bulbs in the cabins could be brighter. Also a flood light for the driveways would be very welcome. It's pitch black there.

My first time at Fontana. I brought my family along, and we stayed in the lodge. We had great service and the staff was great. My wife and children took advantage of many of the activities on site and enjoyed them all. We will certainly be back. On the contrary to most, we enjoyed the cell phones not ringing for a week. :lol

First year going, and it was a great time. Like everyone said about the food it was great. The cabins were really nice and clean as well. Thanks again!
