Skeeter 07-19-2008, 04:30 PM What type of riding do you do? It's all based on this question. Track, hard street, mixed track and street or just putting around on the street. Are you looking for a sticky tire or one which will offer the best wear mileage. They even have Hyper sport tires which offer a good compromise on the street and track.
r1Totzauer 07-19-2008, 05:26 PM i have been using power pilots for a while they have done better than most other tires, i ride everyday, so far i would rate the shinko tire being the worst but now i have the con-attacks on there, i will let u know what i think.
tornota 07-22-2008, 01:56 AM I got the PP2CT's on my '08 R1 and my GSXR 1000 and 400 and love them, yeah the center strip is harder when they are cold (but that's rare here in Cali) and they are expensive, but I still love 'em. I haven't had a problem with the unpredictability that some people talk about but there is a little bit of a learning curve when running any dual compound tire. Once warm they still have a good balance between straight line acceleration and cornering, but as with any dual compound you run compromises to avoid the chicken strip and still corner well. I'm still fond of the Qualifiers but so far the PP2's seem to hold up better to daily abuse on a daily rider and still let me lean over to their edges!! Oh yeah, and all bikes seem to swap from side to side easier and feel a bit twitchier straight line than a single compound tire (a little too twitchy on the 400 sometimes)... Can't say much for the M3's other than they were one of two replacement tire considerations for me (them and the PP2's) and as for the Pirelli's, I like them but can't validate spending Pirelli money for Dunlop performance.
Hope that helps some!
yankin&bankin 07-22-2008, 11:29 PM Dude, every tire you listed is excellent, and you really can't go wrong with any of them.
Get whichever one you are leaning towards.
My buddy was singing praises about the BT016. Dunno if anyone has opinions on those. Pls let me know too.
R1eeS4e 07-24-2008, 10:46 PM I am planning on doing Pirelli Rosso's since it's a new and advanced technology. Plus I plan on having far more 'road' days than 'track' days.
I don't know how anyone can consider Michelins after their downright pathetic showing the last two seasons in MotoGP. Bridgestone has been stomping all over them.
gcain 07-24-2008, 11:01 PM That's a loaded question man, kinda like asking which religion is best. :fact
Either way, I think you need to add the Bridgestone BT002RS to that list. I used them just to see what they would be like and have been so impressed I bought another set.
My bike is a toy though, I don't commute on it so mileage means little to me.
gjour1975 07-25-2008, 07:23 AM I ended up getting the Pirelli Diablo Corsa 3 III Tires I got a better deal then mentioned before.

Nice.
Let us know what you think.
GAMMA69 08-08-2008, 02:23 AM Most modern tyres of well know brand are greate.
I'm using Michelin Pilot Power on street and on the track I'm using Bridgestone BT002 Pro.
That's a greate set up for me :)
The PP are exelent (how do you spell e...elent?) when cold or rain, also very good for street riding because they warm up quickly.
The BT002 Pro are racingtyres and need to be warm before you can lean or hit the throttle, but when warmed up they give you more exact stearing. It's a racing tyre and i don't recomend it for the street.
BT002 Pro are about the same as Michelin Pilot Race.
Don't forget that different ridingstyle needs different tyres.

bridgestone wipes it's ass with michelins. :) if i was going multi-compound, i'd be getting bt-016s.
GAMMA69 08-08-2008, 06:51 AM I think the BT016 are good but I've not tried them yet. (and I don't really care because I do my most riding on track anyway)
michel 01-28-2009, 11:28 AM The Metzellers M#s are excellent! I rate them better than the Michelin PP for cornering stability. I need to replace them now and I'm thinking about the BT-016 but all the reviews I have read so far are sort of "great but..."
punisher5 01-28-2009, 04:29 PM I'm a fan of the PP 2 CTs. Here's a link with slightly better pricing.

Didn't see this post was OLD AS HELL but still good link.
Black Hornet 02-19-2009, 01:49 PM gjour1975~Let us know how you like the Pirelli corsa's, I may have to try those. I have run through about 12 set's of Michelin PilotPower's between an R1 and an FZ1 and have never had an issue. As far as someones remark about Bridgestone wiping their ass with Michelins and how could anyone consider them, I don't know anyone that is running an actual Bridgestone MotoGp racing compound or any other tire manufacturers racing compound used exclusively in MotoGp on the street, even though some of that technology does trickle down to the street. It's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. JMO
