LEO & Construction Update!:lol

Leo's have been very present through the gap from Friday thru Sunday. Both THP and BCSO (Blount County Sheriff's Office) have been patrolling the Dragon, as well as along the lake in TN. Anyone coming in trough TN, bewarned. They are writing tickets for both speeding and lane crossing (as well as anything else). Throughout the week, it's been few and far between unless a wreck occurs. Although, I usually see 1 BCSO officer along the lake.

Construction has been pretty unpredictable. Not sure what the Hwy Dept. is doing. They are usually there early am and put out the giant elec. signs if they show up. They've mostly been trimming trees, which throws crap in the road. Just be on the look out since, as I said before, they've been very unpredictable.

so the BBQ lunch is now on Sat too?? that sucks..... i thought the plan was for BBQ on friday for lunch & the chad memorial thing was supposed to be friday night. Sounds like a really busy Day for sure with that many people. It sucks as ill have to miss those 2 things as i need to leave Sat morning to head back as other stuff came up :(

Hey everyone... Just a heads up for Saturday...


We are doing a special presentation to the Crossroads in honor of Chad Clifton with a Memorial Box starting at 8am Saturday the 6th. The CROT will be serving breakfast to use during this time and it's order off the menu so bring money with you to pay for your own food and prepared to eat and be STUNNED from the incredible display that Kmac has put together for us in honor of Chad. Please estimate attendance for me so I can let the crot know.

After that at 10:00 am back at the Fontana Village Church Pegrider and Lana are getting married.

At 12:00 noon we are all meeting at the CROT again for a pig roast bbq. Cost will be $6 each and I'm going to need a estimate on who's going so they can be prepared. After that lunch we are doing our annual ride to the overlook and then we'll select a gratuitous phot spot... On the luncheon if someone before hand would like to collect $ from everyone and keep the names list it would make it easier on them so please STEP UP.....

Two of Chad's best friends couldn't make it until late Friday night so we are doing the box presentation and CROT Q Saturday... You are more than welcome to have breakfast with us Saturday and be there for the presentation at 8am on your way out day...

Great area.

I rode Shady Valley/Boone, NC area last week. IMHO, roads are better overall in that area than in the Deal's Gap area.

I'll agree that there are some AWESOME roads to ride in NE TN, but the company at the convention can't be matched anywhere... I'll ride around when I go home, this time the bike is stayin on the trailer though.

Traffic Delays & Detours Coming Into Knoxville
For those traveling from the west into Knoxville on I-40, continue eastbound into west Knoxville and exit onto I-140 (Pellissippi Pkwy - Airport Exit) to Hwy 129.

Don't take the shortcut (I-40 & Hwy 95/321 Exit) through Lenoir City - Hwy 321 to Maryville. Hwy 321 is one lane over Tellico-Ft Loudon Dam and is causing long delays, sometimes up to 45 minutes.

The interstate signs you will see stating I-40 is closed in Knoxville at exit 386 will not effect anyone coming from the north on I-75 or from the west on I-40.

Anyone coming from the East on I-40 into Knoxville will exit onto I-640 (bypass) for 7 miles and exit onto I-275 south. I-275 will end at I-40 Go westbound for 1/2 mile and then exit onto Hwy 129.

Starting the process of cleaning and prepping gear, bikes, vehicle and trailer. Should be done by tomorrow afternoon or early evening even with the inevitable " Dad what are you doing/Dad can I help/Dad can we play/Dad why can't I go" questions from my 6 year old! I'll be leaving early early tuesday morning, should be there 10ish or so.
I wil most definitely need some help getting the bikes off the truck, as i have managed to cram them both side by side in the titan.

Still no cell service, but like Tony said wifi is much better. Also the food has gotten much better. Last nights dinner was damn good too, roast beef was tender and veggies had a good flavor.

You can get great cell signal just 8 minutes from Fontana. Just head to the dam overlook area. AT&T, Verizon and others worked just fine up there.

I think we're pretty much gonna stay local -

I think our plan so far is to leave the gas station at 9:00 and ride 28 down to Franklin for breakfast, then come back and ride the Gap and hang out for a little bit.

Back home now, what a great trip! The roads are fantastic and Fontana was great also, good planning guys. Too bad I only had a couple of days there. Sorry I didn't get a chance to hang out more and meet more of you, but to those I met thanks for the hospitality! Goobr, Skeeter, Shane and Paytheon. I'll definitely be back and plan to be there all week next time.
