That guy is from the Netherlands... his kawa wasn't even damaged by the cold water. He says he'll definately try it again but will check the thickness of the ice more thoroughly next time :)

All this started on a Dutch bike forum. The guy (MarkTT) posted a picture and a short story about fabricating his own spiked tyres. Almost every visitor went nuts (mainly caused by the fact that very few Dutchmen ride during winters) and asked him to try them at the lake in his/her neighbourhood (not too hard in The Netherlands). When winter came and the first skaters went up the ice Mark and some forum-buddies went out to find a nice quiet lake, which they did after visiting several spots. Too bad it didn't last long. Mark is ok though, and said he will try again when the ice is a bit thicker... :bow
